it was clear that the first wasn't always the best

about Renault, 2010 livery was great, the only thing spoiling was the Total sponsorship

That was the only thing? So you're forgetting the car was butt ugly.

I just meant the livery, I don't mention designs from 2009 onwards

This is because they spent about 5 minutes designing the car, and then another 5 minutes photoshopping the spec livery onto it

What is usually the price for tickets at test sessions? I'm a free man again, so why not visit Barcelona in March.

3 years ago I paid around 20 euros per day with access to grandstands and the roof of the pitboxes where I took some cool pictures :)

Put on your best pokerface and gain entrance to the paddock and the motorhomes and meet some of the drivers ;) I know I did :D

Just one question for those who already went, regarding the testing in Barcelona. Do you get you tickets at the track/entrance or do you have to order them online in advance?

I believe you can order them online but I don't think they've opened it yet. I'm sure you can also buy them on the gate - testing is never at capacity, though obviously it's much busier on any day when Alonso is driving.

Thanks! I'll keep checking and see how it goes :)

That's because the FIA has strict guidelines on how F1 tracks are designed.

Shit excuse.

Different designers, different view on the rules.
F1 cars are a perfect example of that. Same rule book but different interpretations.

Only ever so slightly within the same season. The argument you brought up actually reinforces what Gaara has said: technical regulations influence car design A LOT, hence why we end up with ugly or nice looking cars depending on the season.

Architects love a nice-looking place just like you and I, and would love to have trees and grass next to the track, and flowing corners because it appeals to the eye. They just aren't allowed to.

now that Bernie suceeded with trackside holographic ads, tracks could easily be huge tarmac squares with changeable lines

The return of that livery would be orgasmic, like the McLaren-Marlboro. It's an all time classic. To be fair, the tabacco era produced the most amazing liveries

Yep. And it also brought an absolute ton of money into the sport. I hate cigarettes, but I absolutely miss tobacco advertising in auto racing.

I think banning smoking and cigarette advertisement is wrong way to go. People should be allowed to cremate themselves to premature death at their own expense as the world is getting over-populated. And tobacco companies should be allowed to compete which one gets the highest score.

That's preciselly the same thought I have!

People should generally be allowed to kill themselves if they want, but this specific situation is complicated by the known risks of second-hand smoke. If you want to kill yourself, fine. Don't drag me into it just because I'm standing nearby!

That aside, it is a shame that no other industry has filled the financial gap for the teams. I say the teams, because Bernie has had no trouble filling it for CVC.

Isn't the rumour that Rolex were going to sign to sponsor McLaren before Bernie got in there and convinced them away?

The point really should be that it is unacceptable that the sport's owners are intentionally competing with it's own teams for commercial gain. Even moreso when the owners are already creaming off a significant profit from the top line and not redistributing that wealth in an equitable fashion.
