Because if the race goes on, I'm sure we'll have drivers complaining of the smog all weekend long...

Especially the whining master Felipe Massa!

Isn't a helicopter mandatory regardless of the location?

If there is an emergency hospital within a set distance I don't think so.

Hence why Suzuka didn't stop due to the helicopter not being able to fly, and Jules was transported by ambulance.

Wasn't Jules transported by car because the pressure of being airlifted was too dangerous?

No, the helicopter wasn't allowed to fly due to the typhoon forecast.

I had the same though but didn't want to bother estimating it.

....Actually, I do bother, because fuck work, this is much more fun.

Mexico is at 2250m altitude. Air density is about 0.975kg/m3, instead of 1.225kg/m3 at sea level, based on this source: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/stand ... d_604.html

That's a 20% decrease. Drag coefficient varies linearly with density of the fluid. Therefore, drag decreases by 20% at Mexico.

I'm afraid that's not how it works either.

Air density is a a factor of a half in the drag coefficient equation, where as air is a different percentage factor in the fuel burn characteristic.

At least its not around a marina...

Crap track. Only reason it gets so much love is because it was the first night race on the calendar. Yes, even Valencia was a better track than this one. If that had been a night race that would have still been on the calendar.
