Old Hockenheim had something. Cannot describe it in words but Hockenheim was Hockenheim.

It's like a girl with beautifully long hair and then suddenly cuts it all off. Some girls pull it off and still look hot but this girl can't. And thats the same with Hockenheim......

also one of the shortest races of the season of course.

Can't help but feel, when watching the old Hockenheim movies, that sense of summer and the halfway point of the season.

Take the incredibly conveniently timed safety car out of the equation the race would've drawn a 0/10 from most TBKer's, considering the quality of some of those races that year (Aus, Monaco, Silverstone, Spa, Interlagos)

The old circuit will live on, even if it's just woods, it'll still be shorter than the rest of the trees, so it'll remain visible. I sorta like it the way it is.

the old hockenheim was great, just because it was so different compared to most tracks. Now it is just a track where races happen. Nothing more. The old Hockenheim was fantastic, with cars slipstreaming, low downforce, which complicates the chicanes and stadium section. those were the days.

Yeah i know it wouldnt be good then, cuz SC bunched them up... But Glocks crash caused it, and no one touched him to cause the accident

Id like to walk the old track, would be pretty cool I reckon. Weird to go to places which have been let to rundown after being so famous in the past. When I was at Kyalami awhile back it was similar, bits of the old track overgrown.

The old track was good but time makes it look better than it was I think. It was unique, true and it had some good races but it wasn't that good all the time. With the little differences between engines nowadays it wouldn't be as interesting as it was. The new track is just a blank Tilke track without challenges. The good thing is that we'll see the cars for more laps which is good for the spectators. Hopefully DRS can make the race better than 2010. 2008 was good but only after the field was split up after Glocks accident. If I hád to choose I would go for the old one but I don't care that much.

The only reason why I liked the Old circuit was that it was different. The racing there was pretty boring most years actually, but it was tolerable because it was such a different kind of track. A snooze fest at Hokenheim wasn't the same as a snooze fest as Barcelona for instance

The old course felt like you were going somewhere. The cars would roar through the stadium and then blast out into the forrest. While some races on the old track were junk, some were not, just like any other race track. I for one think that with the field as tight as they are now with these tires that the old track would put up an interesting challenge. Remove the 2nd chicane at the Ostkurve and return it to the fearsome corner it should be and you have a brutally fast circuit with a corner that would challenge the mettle of the best. Sadly, now it's all weeds. Ah, what could've been if not for short sighted greed.

There has been more and more races added and almost all of them to the end of the season. There's about two-week range where the race has taken place. I just looked at five-year-intervals which race Hockenheim has been and how many races there was in total. 1987 seems exception as it was just the race where halfway was reached like this year. 1986 was 10/16 (Canada dropped from calendar for 1987, Japan added to the back while Spain moved from spring to autumn) and from 1988 to 1991 9/16 (Canada back, Austria out). Spain was moved back to spring in 1992. 1982 12/16 1987 8/16 1992 10/16 1997 10/17 2002 12/17 2007 no race, Nürby 10/17 2012 10/20

I like the old Hockenheim layout because it was a different kind of track - and it was perfectly suitable as a different challenge to a top series like F1. However, I also think people would like the current layout if it was at any other place in the world but where it actually is.

I might come across as a greenie here, but I'm going to disagree. Sometimes when areas fall into urban decay etc, we just let them sit there and do nothing. If we no longer have any use for it, give it back to nature.

I miss the old layout, it was so much better for racing than this rubbish. I would prefer the German GP to stay at Nurburgring, where its usually exciting with the weather. Last exciting race at Hockenheim......1996 Berger blowing up with a few laps left, 97 Fisichella massive tyre failure and Berger winning days after his dad died?
