BMW seems to be strong at Monza, and that's great :) Would be nice if Kubica could stay in the fight for the last races, maybe with a bit more lucky and some mistakes my Ferrari and McLaren :) He's already very close to Kimi in the championship :)

It feels like it's been years since there was a sexy Honda F1 car, it just needs to lose the hearse wagon engine cover. The BMW takes the cake though.

Hopefully from Monza onwards, the racing starts to get more interesting and volatile. Hungary and Valencia were quite poor, Kovalainen's win barely saving grace for Hungary. Would be nice to see a shaken up grid and perhaps result once more as well.

Aug.29 (GMM) After going quickest on Wednesday, Valencia winner Felipe Massa had an ignominious end to his test driving duties on Thursday by beaching his Ferrari in Monza's Ascari chicane gravel bed.

Mechanics quickly covered the Brazilian's machine with a red tarpaulin, and all four wheels with red plastic, as it was returned to the pitlane on the back of a truck.

Massa, 27, reportedly lost control of the F2008 in the late afternoon in excess of 250kph, for reasons not specified by the Italian team.

It was the only red flag of the day, at the end of which BMW-Sauber's Nick Heidfeld headed the field of 12 drivers representing all ten formula one teams.

easy to recover of course since the pitlane is very close there

The Ferrari engine seems to be the fastest this season, and in a track like Monza, that is a great thing. Unrelaible too, though.

EDIT: This post is in response to DA's post.

That's true. I was going to argue that the old cars barely ran any wing on the cars at all, front or rear, in order to get as much material out of the air stream as possible, thus reducing drag. But that sort of defeats my own statement about the downforce since the chicanes have been in place for years and years.

Aerodynamics - too complex for any normal person to understand. Every little bit on the car has a purpose to make the car faster. The bridge wing may be one of these, then again it may not. I guess that is why they run with and without it to see which is best.

I study aerodynamics, but applied to airplanes. In the photos is clear how the wings are much flatters, similar to GP2 cars. This reduce drag but also downforce. This aero set, in theory, should provide overtaking possibilities, despite estethical analysis.
