I think they don't want anyone not to qualify. Especially with current qualifying system: Hamilton spins out on first lap of qualifying at Donington - he's out of the race then. You may imagine what British fans think about that.

I would like pre-qualifying, but that wont happen. It's too expensive, let alone not even making the race. I just hope there 26 compeditive cars, in which all of the teams are fully comitted for many years. Or even make it 30 car grids. 8)

30 is too many, 26 is definitely the maximum.

Campos are now saying that they won't enter, http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75458.

With Prodrive pretty much out too that's two of the teams that might have been able to put together a serious proposal gone.

I may be wrong since i don't know exactly how the system used to work, but wasn't just the lesser teams the ones who could be out of the race?.

Nope. Everyone was under threat.

Of course, if you did bin your car on the very first attempt or it broke down, you could get a kind scooter-riding marshall to give you a lift back to the pits so you could jump in the spare car. Can't do that nowadays.

Well with pre qualifying it was only the lesser teams who had to do it. Then they had what 30 cars for qualifying for the 26 spots

So it was definitely possible for the big teams to miss out

We might not even see any qualifying next year if there are no cars to qualify.

but you had qualifying both on fridays and saturday, and they could use the spare car in case the other car broke down, so the chances of the bigger teams not being qualified were pretty low. I remember Piquet not qualifying I think for the Belgian Grand Prix in his last year for Lotus, but Lotus at that time weren't a big team anymore.

Barwa Addax is not Campos Grand Prix.

Adrian Campos left his GP2 team ro Alejandro Agag and the latter changed its name to "Barwa Addax". Adrian is working on a wind tunnel project in Spain looking forward to being in Formula 1 in a close future.

Therefore, Adrian is interested; Agag, no.

Well, you've got to admit that it is a little bit retarded.

Formula 1 is like Jesus, it died so many times, but it's still alive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, for I'm not to up on Christianity, but didn't Jesus only die once? After he magically rose from the dead, didn't he just sort of float up to heaven?

And people wonder why I have a hard time taking Christianity seriously.

Adrian Campos officially sent his application form to get a place next year. The name of the team: "Campos Meta 1"
http://www.marca.com/2009/05/22/motor/formula1/1242986767.html

EDIT: English report...

Campos's team lodges F1 entry
By Pablo Elizalde Friday, May 22nd 2009, 07:35 GMT

The Campos Racing team has confirmed its intention to enter Formula 1 in 2010, having lodged its entry for the championship tonight.

The team, currently racing in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship, is owned by former grand prix driver Adrian Campos, who previously owned current GP2 champion Barwa Addax. This was initially believed to be the team which had F1 plans, something that was denied earlier this week.

Campos Racing confirmed on Friday that at 00:05 it had lodged its entry for the championship under the budget cap rules.

The official period to submit entries for next year opened today and closes on May 29.

Campos said it has lodged its entry in conjunction with Meta Image, and that the F1 team would be called Campos Meta 1.

The team said it was unwilling to reveal the people involved in the project, but denied reports that appeared in the Spanish media about some of the investors linked to it.

Spain's top-selling newspaper Marca had reported earlier this week that Mexican businessman Carlos Slim and NBA player Pau Gasol were involved in the project.
