the happening of today also prompts quite an unusual F1 fact, the last race before the Elizabethan era was won by Juan Manuel Fangio (1951 Spanish GP at Pedralbes)

if Sir Lewis Hamilton win this one could be very significative of a new era

Since Hamilton starts from the back, this scenario is very unlikely.

that race at Pedralbes was also the last race win for Alfa Romeo as a constructor and their final driver's championship win, a near 71 year drought, perhaps the greatest in F1 history

perhaps Zhou can secure his first one and the first one for Alfa Romeo after all those years

Qualifying and the race will be broadcast on Sky in the UK, but flag-to-flag only. No pre- or post-race coverage.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Spa renamed the second Stavelot corner "Paul Freres" several years back and nobody calls it that. Old names stick forever.

Do you mean on Sky One or whatever it's called now?
Because it's always on their Sky F1 channel lol

No, Sky Sports F1. The point of interest is that it's being broadcast at all.

I know the queen dying is a big news event, but I wouldn't have ever expected it to take the race off a dedicated formula 1 channel

I get they'd not want to send people to the track, so are just taking the world feed, but I never thought them showing the race was in doubt.

I remember coverage of the Italian GP in 2001, with Jim Rosenthal outright saying he didn't think the race should be on due to what had just happened in the USA.

Sky have changed their mind and have now plumped for shorter pre- and post-races instead.

---------------

Verstappen will drop 5 places on the grid for a new ICE.

The rules are so broken. First engine penalty is more places than the 2nd or 3rd.
Max could now take a new engine each weekend and start from 6 and cruise to victory

The size of the penalty in Belgium was because he took one of everything. This time it's just the engine and not the hybrid bits.

But 2nd engine penalty is still lower than first engine

There shouldn't be limits on engine components anyway.

They did it to cut costs. Which is understandable. But make it logical.

3 engines isnt enough if they also keep adding races.

If first engine is 10 place penalty, the 2nd or 3rd must be equal or higher. Not lower.

at least the penalties keep the races somewhat less of a parade than it would be without them

If only it did cut costs. The money that used to be spent on building dozens of engines for racing is now spent on building dozens of engines for testing to chase reliability.

That Mercedes rear wing is so flat using drs probably adds more drag
