would be great for F1 if they did a sort of a throwback race displaying old logos and liveries, with drivers putting their helmets into an old design or using another from a legend. Could be great to promote, specially if they do it in Silverstone or Monaco

V8 Supercars (and I think NASCAR?) do retro rounds, if Liberty had half a brain they would chose a race at random each year and do it.

Has any team ran a special livery, (ie once off livery) recently? Aside from Red Bull with DC in 2008 and their face-picture cars, I can't recall any.

Is the rule that both cars must carry the same livery during the season still in place? One-off permission for a single car is doable as in DC's case but BAR were forbidden running different Lucky Strike/555 paint scheme on their cars in 1999 so we got the Frankenstein livery instead.

RB also did it for Coulthard for his final race. Out on the first lap though wasn't he?

Yes, white car. He was out in the 2nd corner.

He also promoted Superman in Monaco, got third and got on the podium wearing a red cape.

Far as I'm aware they still have that rule unfortunately. It would be better for the poorer teams if they ditched it.

well F1 is now on the hand of the americans who love this kind of promotion, maybe Liberty could learn with american series and do something

Expect a 3 place grid penalty for Gio for also being on the track when LeClerc was doing his fast lap.

Except when Gio can't do a lap and starts last anyway.

Vettel overtaking Max before final fast lap is just so disgusting. No driver respect there

Im on Vettels side, i would overtake him too. He knew that there is little time left to start a lap. Cuz they told him on radio. Did Seb make it for another flying lap? Yes he did. Did Max make it to start another lap? No, cuz he was not informed. Some drivers are informed and some not.
Something happened in 2011 Japan GP to Lewis when Webber and Schumacher overtook him and he couldnt start a lap cuz he was not informed and was slow.

Same here. Vettel did nothing wrong, Max focused on complaining and Renaults went by too, which to me seems that Max didn't know how little there was time left.

Or...knowing Red Bull tactics, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get Vettel out on purpose but Ferrari saw it too soon and reacted. What is for sure is that Hamilton had slow out lap and he started this show.

Yes, a very, very slow outlap.

Can't be feeling sorry for these goofs. It's one of the longest tracks on the calendar and yet 5-6 cars end up within 200 meters of each other in a crucial moment of the session? They all try to outsmart each other and sometimes few of them get burned. Big deal. Imagine the moaning if they had to race at historically narrow & short tracks like Jerez or Brands Hatch :slaphead:

about time to create a maximum out lap time and start giving penalties for those dragging themselves on the track before starting a fast lap
