It's really close between going out in Q1 and getting into Q3.

WTF is going on at Red Bull?

Ricciardo wanted to break with the red bull tow-per-weekend procedure and is now sulking that he wasn't allowed a lap behind max, even though Max did the entire Paul Ricard sessions behind Danny?

Odd thing to spit the dummy about....

Vettel handed a 3 place grid penalty for holding up Sainz.

Not sure what to make of that as it almost looks to me like Sainz lost the back end when he hit the throttle, Oversteered onto the runoff & blew the lap before he got the point of Seb holding him up. Had he not made that error he would have been held up by Seb but I think he blew the lap before it got to that.

Also it was Q2 & both got into Q3 so no harm was really done long term.

Based on Monza 2006, if Vettel was blowing dirty air back at sainz then I guess that's enough for the FIA to penalise him

Not saying I agree either (that was one of the biggest bullshit decisions ever tbh) but a shitty precedent was set that day that has been haunting us ever since,.

Alonso @ Monza '06 is probably the most bullshit penalty i've ever seen.

Hamilton @ Spa '08 is close but while I don't necisarily agree with it I do kind of see how you could come to that conclusion. Monza '06 I just don't get how you could ever conclude Massa was held up in any significant way.

But according to Max Mosley's interview with Brundle on the grid that weekend.... We just don't have all the facts :(

I rate spa 08 as worse because you just cannot slow down, let your opponent through and gain an advantage.
The fact he then avoided a crash with him because the ferrari braked very early due to the conditions (as I believe Kimi was doing and Lewis had to react) is irrelevant imo

The finish to that race was crazy, but it's never really mentioned alongside Gilles/Arnoux or Fuji 08 as one of the all time great multiple position swap battles and it's largely because that penalty really leaves a bitter taste in the mouth

Any sensible person would've decided to drop any issues with it when Kimi crashed, but not the Ferrari International assistance of the time, still angry at Mclaren for Spygate and doing whatever they can to penalise them
The worst decision in a very long list of terrible FIA penalties tbh

a fine should have been ok, this way they're killing probable race action

Gearbox change for LeClerc, so 5 place grid penalty. A shame because he could qualify in the top 10 again.

In spite of that, he will still start two positions ahead of teammate Ericsson.

It's a tough call between those two, and Montoya getting a penalty for being driven into in Malaysia.

Spa is marginal. He just feathered the throttle a bit after straightlining and probably would have lost time had he slotted in behind. That tarmac runoff is just too enticing. Of course how was he to know that Kimi would end up binning it any way.

Monza was 100% bullshit and funny how Ferrari always benefited.

I can't help but feel that Ricciardo is playing mind games (with himself) and is risking digging himself into a hole a la Alonso.
