It's funny to see them take off old sponsors from old cars in the factory, like the Shell logo.

Shell used to have the best f1 related ads when they supplied McLaren and in the first years with Ferrari

today looks like oil companies doesn't want to show their F1 commitment, shows how much the sport lost marketing share

I can't remember McLaren using Shell, I thought they've always used Mobil. At least since I started watching 20 years ago.

Edit: found it, they switched in 1995, which is indeed 20 years ago.

Is it time to demand a white/red or orange livery for next year's McLaren, or do we have to wait until launch time?

by the way McLaren is losing sponsors is clear that they'll have to use the classic liveries to appeal with the fans

"It appears that while we have taken into consideration that there are benefits and negatives of running an alternative and more traditional approach to visually appealing aesthetics, it is not a direction we have chosen to take for the 2016 season." - Ron Dennis.

So you reckon Ron will do a sponsorship deal with Bernie's daughter and whoever does her fake tan?

Every driver should be allowed to move up the ladder at whatever pace is best for them & there level of talent.

Moving from karting to F3 & straight to F1 hasn't done Max Verstappen much harm & despite all the safety concerns some had about his age/inexperience pre-season I think he's driven brilliantly this year & has been the start of season for me.

There are a few drivers in F1 who spent years driving in lower categories that are older & supposedly wiser than Max who i'd be far more worried about racing against.

As I posted in the F3 thread when the idea was first mooted, this is a useless idea. Had this rule been in place for this season, it would not have stopped Lance Stroll from competing, nor would it have stopped Markus Pommer. But it would have stopped the ultra-reliable Illot and the sensible Lorandi, and their replacements could well have ended up causing more accidents.

Of course, the point of this regulation is not to stamp out 'bad driving' but to railroad drivers into the various F4 series, to keep those series healthy and to keep the money flowing in through entry fees and broadcasting deals.

There's a lot of really dumb shit in that rules package as a whole. The team car limit is fine when you've got 18 or whatever teams going after 34 grid spots, but I can guarantee that as soon as the interest drops (which might happen very quickly thanks to the entrance fee hike) and the entrants dry up, they won't do anything to reverse the move and so they'll end up back at 19 or 20 cars at best when they could have had 26.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
