If you work at a company, and another one takes over that company, your contract will automaticly continue. The new company can fire you but that has to be under the same conditions as if the original company fired you. You keep your rights.

That's not true. But it is dependent on the conditions negotiated between the two parties. Very often in takeovers there are casualties.

I assume it depends on the law of each country.

Agree with you there and something I hadn't factored in to my point.

It depends if the drivers are employees or not, if they were then it's all protect under TUPE.
https://worksmart.org.uk/work-rights/pa ... my-pay-and

But that doesn't necessarily protect them from Renault modifying the agreement.

In short, Renault can't say 'your agreement was with Lotus, so fuck off' it doesn't work like that in the UK (not that that would stop someone trying it on, but you can bet both drivers had an army of Lawyers drawing up their contracts who would be happy to take Renault to the cleaners should they try it on, but not everybody has that or knowledge of contract law and often piss is taken by the bucketload by new company owners, or even just cocksure owners who think they're above the law, yes looking at you Sauber).

One thing we can all agree on, is that contracts in F1 are meaningless.

Not meaningless, but always open to renegotiation ;)

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

That's true, FIA tend to go by their own rules.

Chances of one of them showing up in Melbourne and stealing the overalls of one of the drivers that took their seat?

Luiz Razia had signed a contract with Marussia a few years ago but he didn't showed the money and they signed with Bianchi

all they need to do is refuse PDVSA money and say that the money didn't arrived :p

How are PVDSA and Total are going to be on 1 car? Total left Red Bull right to be associated with Renault again right? So I guess if Total brings more money, Maldonado could be out?

It would be a crying shame if Hass was to pick yellow and in theory be the best looking car on the grid, then have Renault turn up with a yellow livery too.

Hass's corporate colors are red, white and black, so.... pink should be chosen immediately, leave the boring black for McLaren's dog.

Haas. When you write Hass I always have to think of the german word Hass, which means hate and sounds really ugly in german. :D

To be honest, I'm amazed they haven't lost them already.
