As one of the complainers - it's not just about the (lack of) racing for me. I've been watching this sport long enough to know the Spanish GP is almost always going to be a crock of shit. But with the current package, what with the tyre saving, fuel saving etc etc, none of it really feels real. On track passing is usually down to cars being in different phases of the race (of course there are exceptions ie. Bahrain, but that's rare), and it feels like most of the race is decided by computers and race engineers before the lights have even gone out. The drivers may as well all do a 66 lap iRacing time trial and the winner is the one with the quickest time. Even in the dark days of 2002/2004, it still felt genuine, to me at least. At the moment it feels like watching one of the races in the offline racing section of this forum. A race happens, and someone is declared the winner, but it's all a bit irrelevant.

You may not agree, but I just wanted to give an explanation to what some may see as mindless bitching.
