I suspect it'll be Rossi + Experienced Driver. It makes sense because even though Rossi isn't the best, he does at least have plenty of F1 mileage and at the end of the day, Haas aren't going to be competing for wins straight out of the block. You don't need 2 brilliant drivers. The extra publicity of an American in an American car is probably worth more than a driver who can wring a couple more tenths out of the car. If they want to start testing early (if they're even allowed), Kovalainen would be ideal

I think Hass would want a marquee American driver to drum up interest. So Patrick would fit that bill (despite being a horrible choice) . Would not be surprised is he goes after Marco Andretti or a Graham Rahal. His best bet would be Hunter-Ray for my liking. he has a name for himself in the states and is a decant driver.

If an American driver is a must I'd go for one that's risen through the ranks in European leagues; historically Americans not accustomed to the European paddock haven't done well. So I guess that's +1 to Rossi, any other obvious candidates?

besides that, he said that F1 would just be something to advertise Haas CNC, why not try an european paydriver to seek more support from Europe?

Conor Daly fits the profile. Half Irish-half American, okay in a race car. That is all that is needed.

If Conor Daly fit the profile then he wouldn't be finding it so hard to find funding for his GP2 program this year.

God, either of these two in an F1 paddock would be hilarious.

I'd be interested to see either of those attempt F1. That said, I can't imagine Michael or Bobby allowing their sons to get involved with in F1's surreal politics.

Our friend at Marussia got a namedrop in this week's Autosport.

Nice to see that he's moved up the ladder a bit.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Aw c'mon, there is no traction control anymore so its not like they can turn Marco's off mid corner. But I could still imagine Michael saying "Look at the telemetry! They were turning Marco's turbo down, while Chilton's (yes that's right I'm calling it early, Max "look at how many races I finished in a row, despite being dead plum last most the time" Chilton to be the experienced driver) turbo got turned up".
