The teams need at least 10 minutes to prep the cars as all the oils & stuff need to be pre-heated & circulated around the engines.

Only comparison I can give is Las Vegas 2011. People before the race were saying how awesome the race was going to be. Then 24 hours later, the same people were asking people why on earth the events that happened ended up happening.

I understand the comparaison, but not agree with it.

Vegas is an oval which had never been made for Indycar. Even in Michel Vaillant 10 years before the tragedy, Jean Graton told it (check the "Ultima Speedfight" episodes).

Here, it's a "classic" race track. Drivers have to be slow, and careful, like every other rainy race in history. There will be some accidents, but it can't be an horrific one like LV. If a deadly crash happen today, maybe it would have happened too on a dry day. A Senna like, for example (I mean, the piece of suspension story, if you know what I mean).
Vegas, it was OBVIOUS: too many cars, and far too fast for that track!

Barcelona 1996 was also a nice race without any Fatalities
