Yeah, Kimi had his differential jammed on 50 bar pressure, which means it sets off the car during cornering.

Think the front three will remain the front three tomorrow but with Alonso jumping Lewis. Vettel to run and hide bar SC intervention.

Best three drivers in the sport in the Top Three. Fitting.

Kimi was 12th, so no top three in top3.

And don't forget that it's Montreal, nothing is sure for the top five. It's going to be interesting 70 laps tomorrow.

Fernando is the best. Seb/Lewis I can't split for second.

Kimi is one of the fastest drivers F1 has ever seen. Incredible. But not in 2012, no way can you call him better than Fernando, Seb & Lewis.

Well, the team has screwed him few times, but his comeback has been quite decent so far.

Vettel slowest through the speed traps. Therefore the slowest car is on pole position. :p

Mercedes, for all their super DRS, is 21st and 22nd.

What was the reason Button went out in Q3? That was very stupid.

I think Kimi has been decent in his comeback so far. Its very easy to overlook that he's had two years off. I suspect he'll have a much stronger second half to the season :)

Hope we don't get any silly first lap incidents between the top three. Because we have the prospect of quite a juicy battle between them right through to the end of the race.

Any guesses as to how many SC periods we'll see?

I'd say just one...

probably this

Jenson Button regrets running in Q3 ahead of Canadian Grand Prix

Jenson Button reckons it was a mistake to run at all in Q3 of Canadian Grand Prix qualifying, as he will now have to start the Montreal race on slightly worn soft tyres.

The McLaren driver used all his super softs just to reach the top 10 session, and was the only man to run softs in Q3, leaving him 10th on the grid.

"We wanted to start the race on the prime tyre. To be fair, looking at it now, we shouldn't have actually bothered running it, because it was going to be tricky to beat anyone on it," said Button.

"We were going to be P10 on the option tyre and thought we'd give it a go on the prime and start the race on a prime, but maybe we shouldn't have put five laps on it."

Button was pessimistic about his chances of being able to use his alternate tyre choice to make progress on Sunday.

"I don't really think there are any risks with strategy. Especially here," he said. "It's going to be a one or a two-stop, and I think most people will be two stopping.

"Obviously I'll be starting on a different tyre to the front nine, but I'll be starting on the same tyre as everyone behind me. At least we're at the front of that pack, I suppose."

He also doubts that he will be able to do a great deal of overtaking.

"The scary bit is at the moment I don't feel that good under braking, so it's going to be difficult to make any manoeuvres tomorrow, I feel," Button conceded.

The Briton lost a large amount of Friday practice mileage to an oil leak and related gearbox issue, but said Saturday's result was more a continuation of his recent qualifying strife than a consequent of practice issues.

"I don't even know if it would have been any better if we'd had all of Friday, looking at the previous two [races]..." he said.

Button admitted that he feels no closer to solving the qualifying issues that have now slowed him on Saturday for three successive races.

"I haven't got a clue, and I'd like to know because it would make life a lot easier," Button replied when asked if he knew what was wrong with his qualifying form.

"You don't have three bad qualifying sessions and understand what's going wrong.

"The first three qualifying sessions of the year were good - I had two seconds and a fourth. Now suddenly I'm only just inside the top 10. Don't know... But hopefully we'll solve it soon."

and in other news. No chance of rain. Gonna be a sunny and pleasantly warm day.

About 200 demonstrators - mainly women's rights groups but also anti-corporate protesters - have marched against Montreal's biggest annual tourist draw, Formula One's Grand Prix.

Marchers hit the streets behind a huge banner slamming the prostitution they see as a parallel "Formula One of Sex Exploitation," as their banner read, stopping near several hotels where they said prostitution was common.

"In my opinion, prostitution is still a paid rape," Laurence Fortin, a graduate student and sociology researcher, told AFP.

There were no immediate reports of any violence. Riot police were out on guard on a pedestrian street with Formula One stands set up on it.

How on earth are they linking the two 8O 8O 8O

On Friday, lines of police officers also blocked all access to the stands of the Grand Prix, which many student protesters consider an "elitist event."

I was thinking of going next year, I guess since it's such an elitist event I shouldn't bother and I won't spend my hard earned cash there

I completely understand how the fact this sport is elitist, expensive, reminiscent from a 20th century where it was all about infinite natural resources and no ecological concerns at all, pisses off a lot of 'normal' people who can't get racing.

What I don't understand, is how nobody ever protests against hockey, football, and all those popular games where teams/players are paid even more, and which gets even more expensive on the society as a whole given the masses it drags to the games worldwide. Let's not even talk about prostitution issues in big events like world cup or the current euro cup.

I love football too, I just wish people would be a little more tolerant about all sports and stop bashing motorsport because actors and fans are a minority and an easy "rich" "evil" target.

First race this year when I'm not happy to wait for the BBC coverage. What's the situation with streams this year? Any chance of getting a reasonable English language stream? If not will have to go down the pub!

Mclaren do have an impressive record of making really stupid decisions.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
