I paid something like 180€ for a 3-day grandstand + general admission to the 2012 Singapore GP.

I paid 117€ for a 3-day general admission ticket to the 2014 Spanish GP.
I paid 97€ in 2015. Lower price only because I discovered I could apply to a discount through the Catalan youth program something. Otherwise it was the exact same price.

Singapore was crazy expensive and the grandstand view was not that great (just before the tunnel, very slow section, no overtakes) but having the super-loud V8s (with the general admission you had access to zones where you could stand 1m away from the track, that was insane) + the awesome atmosphere (the city is buzzing and there were concerts included with the tickets for a value of 100+€). Basically nobody gives a shit about the racing itself there, it's all a show.

Barcelona is the opposite. With the general admission you can walk around a good chunk of the track, with great views. I usually go with some friends and it's just great fun. Shame that the racing sucks nowadays, but I live next door and I've got 0 expenses aside from the ticket itself, so... I'll probably go again next year if my friends join me. We did notice a huge drop in attendance between 2014 and 2015, obviously the Alonso switch from Ferrari to Horrorda has impacted sales to the Spanish crowd.

Who regulates ticket prices? Because other FIA events are very inexpensive. The WTCC tickets are Porto 2 years ago went from 25 to 65 euros for a 3 day ticket + 20 for a 3 day paddock pass.

The tracks isn't it? They spend so much just to get to host a GP.

Payed 110euro for general admission 2010,2011,2013 at Monza 2 days.
Back in that time it was worth the money cuz you get to see the drivers close cuz they have to cross from parking lot to paddock trough road where the fans are...
So that is great, but todays F1 it aint worth that money

I think so yes. Spa always gets around 60k spectators with their inflated prices, but they still barely get break-even due to the cost of keeping F1 there

Grosjean in the running for a Haas drive :o

Quote:
Romain Grosjean has emerged as a strong late-contender for the Haas team in 2016, amid ongoing uncertainty about the future of his current Lotus outfit.

The Frenchman put in one of the best performances of his career at the Belgian Grand Prix a fortnight ago to deliver a surprise podium finish, and remind people of his speed.

And although he has previously made it clear that he would love to be a part of the new Renault team if it takes over Lotus, the ongoing delays in finalising that deal have left him pondering other options.

Motorsport.com undertands that with no guarantee the Renault takeover of Lotus will happen, Grosjean has been in negotiations with Haas about a switch there for 2016.

Actually this is about the sole income the circuit receives.
sorry, mess it up. Also governments help funding some tracks (like Valencia).

Mercedes board has seemingly rejected the idea of supplying Red Bull with engines.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120704
Quote:
The thinking behind the move is Mercedes has waited 60 years to find itself in such a position back at the top of F1, and it has no intention of helping out a team with Red Bull's resources become a serious challenger to its success.

So given how there relationship with Renault is pretty much beyond repair it seems its either Ferrari or Honda. Ferrari is the obvious choice I guess but they could always take a gamble of Honda getting there stuff together.

Guess they are have a lower opinion of Williams and Lotus then. If Williams improve further next year wonder if they're engine deal will be in doubt from there?

If Red Bull does another crappy season, I don't think they'll last long in F1.

So with Lotus set to become Renault again and return to Renault engines, Manor are in talks to snap up Mercedes engines.

If Red Bull can afford to lose that much and they're not getting the best engine of today, I can see two options. A) They leave F1 for good, or B) It's Audi time. And if I'm not mistaken, Red Bull have made an agreement with FIA to stay in F1 until the end of 2020.

Think about it. Instead of staying as works team for Renault and losing 88 millions, doesn't it make more sense to get a sweeter works deal, rather than starting to pay 15 - 30 millions to Ferrari or Honda for a B-team status? That's a 100 million difference right there. For me it does not make any sense, so there has to be more than meets the eye.

And I bet it's going to be what's been rumoured for a long time: Audi is finally making it's debut in Formula 1.

Shouldn't all these recent posts be in the 2016 silly season thread? Seems unnecessary to have same conversation (with alternative detail) going on in different threads.
