I can see the Mercedes being the last one to pit stop on the first races because of that. More of the same

Ok, finally home for the first time this week to catch the final winter test session. I just bought f1 tv pro but there is no commentary, only fx I can choose. The illegal stream I watched for 5 minutes Tuesday in brasil had commentary, how do I turn it on?

Trailer for the F1 series that will be on Netflix next month. Interesting.

It's very hypocritical IMHO. They advertise danger as if it was still a thing in F1 racing, and they portray so with some of the mildest crashes (Hulkenberg wouldn't have been threatening, not even in a car from 20 years ago). And this generation of drivers talking about danger just sounds fake. They spent their whole careers in carbon fiber tubs on tarmac tracks, care-free when it comes to bodily injury, yet they talk like it's haunting them every time they strap in as if we were in the 70s.

Jackie Stewart would either facepalm or grin by watching that haha

if they wanted to produce something that could catch the eye of the enthusiast and the non regulars they should had called Antti Kalhola to direct it

I have an ambiguous feeling about this.

As a motorsport fan, it's undeniable the sport has been safer and safer. But perhaps this blinds us a bit about the looming risks.

Hulkenberg crash was nothing scary and I would say he would not be under risk even 30 years ago. De Angelis died in a relatable incident and poor marshalling was more of a decisive factor than the crash itself. But TV showed how apprehensive people were with that crash, a face that perhaps wasn't the one any of us TBK members had. So, it does appeal to a broader audience.

And we had a driver dying 3,5 years ago when many thought we wouldn't be seeing this in F1 again. Some months ago we were discussing the inches on whether halo had saved Leclerc's life or not.

It's not like in the 70's, but it doesn't mean the risk doesn't exist. It still looms. And the day the risk doesn't exist, we could switch it e-sports.

Not to anger Ian-S even more, but 3 of my Netflix owning friends are watching and enjoying Star Trek: Discovery now despite never watching an episode of Star Trek before in their lives...

Being on Netflix is a smart move. Some people will give it a go just because it's a "Netflix documentary" regardless of its content.

Hopefully this'll put more eyes on the sport, just in time for the new season :)

what is it with the tyres? I thought it would only be soft, medium and hard?

From what I gathered they will only call them that, but there are variations in them. Eg, they are using the medium (C3) or soft (C4,C5) or hard (C1,C2).

But on the telecast I gather they will just refer to them as soft, medium and hard.

for testing they are not colouring the sides of the hardest and the softest tire. For me looks quite better without the coloured band

Seems as though Kravitz may have been sacked.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Seems so as I haven't seen him on Sky coverage during testing and he wasn't in the promo for the new season.

That's a real shame. Seems an odd decision given that he was probably the best of Sky's team, which makes me wonder if it was for off-screen reasons

grrrr, can't even come here and lament F1 now without having that abomination shoved in my face, at least that makes 4 fans of STD, don't think you're gonna save it even though you're the target audience, so yeah they will love it, Disco is not made for people who have watched Trek before, just like Captain Marvel isn't made for me according to the main star, so I won't be watching that either.

Having said that, the last episode wasn't bad, but unfortunately it doesn't make up for the canon breaking previous episode that introduced the comm badge a century too early.

My irk with STD is the time period it is set in and the Mary Sue main star, if it was set after Nemesis or Voyager, it would be easier to watch and accept, Doug Jones and Anton Mount are the only decent thing about it.

Doubt it, nice sentiment though.

Some details on Ted here, do't know how reliable the source is though:

Scott Young previously worked for V8Supercars, maybe @Scotty has insight?

If they keep his segment with a different presenter then I'm fine with it. Ted was a fuckwit. He was good when he was actually talking about the technicalities of the sport and what happened to so and so, but outside of that I found him to be cringe worthy and a complete moron.
