Tyrrell in 1984?
Well was thinking of BAR 2005, but yeaa, even more form.
Tyrrell never cheated in 1984, I think Barcelona 2013 is more closer to this team's form.

just a question, the pressure are measure with cold tyres?
how much will the pressure rise with hot tyres?

i mean, they're talking values around 1.2 atm, i use pressure around 1.7 - 1.8 when i go mountainbiking on very rough trails, and you can feel the tyre is almost "flat", do they really run on such low pressures?

Lewis Hamilton’s left/rear tyre was 0.3psi below the recommendation & Nico Rosberg’s left/rear was 1.1psi below the recommendation on the grid.

Could someone remind me again about the tyrrell thing? Using water as ballast or something?
Detroit 1984 was fantastic.

Technical Delegate’s report:

Quote:
On the grid and after the 5-Minutes signal the tyre starting pressure and tread surface temperature of the left hand side rear tyre were checked on car numbers 44, 06, 05 and 07 and were compared with the specifications of the official Formula One tyre supplier. The specification for the minimum starting pressure is 19.5 PSI for the dry weather rear tyres and the maximum tyre blanket temperature is 110 °C for all dry weather tyres.

The tread surface temperature of the left hand side rear tyre of car numbers 44, 06, 05 and 07 was within the specification of the official Formula One tyre supplier.

The measured minimum tyre starting pressure of the left hand side rear tyre of car numbers 05 and 07 was above the specified minimum tyre starting pressure.

The measured minimum tyre starting pressure of the left hand side rear tyre of car number 44 was 0.3 PSI below the specified minimum tyre starting pressure and the measured minimum tyre starting pressure of car number 06 was 1.1 PSI below the specified minimum tyre starting pressure.

The tyre pressures were checked with the calibrated tyre pressure gauge of the official Formula One tyre supplier on all four cars.

I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.

Pumped in lead pellets in the fuel during the fuel stop in the race.

Using the Ricciardo example, if this is a clear case of cheating then were Mercedes advised or warned by the stewards through the race? What notification was received by Pirelli? What tolerance is there built in to the 19.5 PSI minimum and were Mercedes outside it?

If they don't get a dq, it would be utterly bullshit. If it would have been a tire on the left, it might be an error, but the rear right on Monza is the least affected tire and you would want to run as low as a pressure as you can.

If Ricciardo got DQ'd for "cheating" the fuel flow thingy, I don't see why Hamilton should escape this one.
That would be very anal on the FIA's, but they gotta be consistent. Oh, wait...

The fuel thing only gives a competitive edge. Mercedes played with safety as well. In the normal world that's a bigger offence.

They use calibrated instruments. Normally, anything calibrated has no need for any tolerance. It's a measurement, not a statistic.

It will be interesting the penalty they give Hamilton as 0.3psi is a negligible amount. Especially given the method of measuring tyre pressure. Rosberg is more clear cut.

Lie and let lie.
For your lies only.
Licence to lie.
The lying daylights.
The man with the golden lie.
Tomorrow never lies.
The lie is not enough.
Lie another day.
..

Some chapter names for the season review.

You take money at the ATM, and you spend it at the bar. Big difference.

I'm kind of surprised they use an old fashioned manual tyre pressure gauge, I'd have thought they would use the telemetry to monitor the pressures in real time.

There's nothing wrong with "old fashioned" style gauges.

I use them daily on aircraft, when in calibration they are spot on. We calibrate them monthly. I'm sure Pirelli check them before each use.
