I hope Webber wasn't pushing there cus he's only a tenth up on Vettel who was on the mediums when he was on the softs...

I feel Vettel is just super hooked up straight out of the box, a scary thought.

Yeah. Too bad there was that backmarker, Vettel was really going at it on supersofts, we'd have seen what he's worth. He was only some 0.150 faster in sector 2 though.

I think there is even a slight chance that Hamilton might outqualify and even outrace his former team

I can't help feel that McLaren has something up its sleeve.

probably, lol. But I think on the long runs the McLaren might come good. Especially in the hands of their two drivers who are known to be experts in preserving tire life.

actually investigating a bit further:

FP1 2012
Quote:
Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 1:27.560 11

FP1 2013
Quote:
Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 01:28.440 19

McLaren actually managed to fly out a car that is slower than last year's at the start of the season...

Funny how McLaren developes a complete new car again, even more than in 2011, because they say they will run out of development options while RBR manages to develope their car every year since 2009.

Really disappointing how dominant RBR looks right now, but ofcourse kudos to them.

It seems that pole will be between Red Bull and Mercedes. But on race pace Lotus and Ferrari is maybe a little bit quicker than Red Bull. I guess it will depend on where Lotus and Ferrari qualify because Vettel can easily stick it on pole and get a lead. McLaren really looked bad.

I'm quite happy Lewis might be able to fight for pole again.

Also, that comparison is not complete without comparing the best time between 2012 and 2013 (so as to get rid of any track/weather factors).
