Well they can still revert back to it as far as I know no-one gives a flying fuck about the drivers numbers.

Hill had #0 for 2 years as first Mansell and then Prost retired a world champion

Mercedes should hold a qualifying shootout audition at an upcoming winter test. Experienced drivers vs. young drivers. Everyone is going to want that fucking seat now hah.

And Bottas' contract has claimed to have a clausal that it can be terminated if one of top there teams suddenly have a vacant seat. So maybe Toto knew what might be coming? One of their driver leaving at the end of 2016.

Guess Hamilton isn't going to be fired now.

What a bomb by Rosberg, his two year deal was worth of 45 M€, so his family really means A LOT to him. I could have worked for two more years for that money.

He did, but since the 'choose your own number forever' rule came in, only 1-99 have been available.

What happens next is a good question - will Nico's number go back into the pot, or will they retire it with him?

I suspect it goes back into the pot, they'd run out if they retired them

Damn, I didn't see that coming at all. I mean there have been some that retired at the top, but they were past their prime anyway, like Elway and Manning come to mind, not sure about in motorsports though.

That was truly out of left field, very respectful but brave decision.

especially because some were really fixed, like 3 and 4 for Tyrrell, 27 and 28 for Ferrari.

What THE...

Hopefully they get someone new in there, I don't want to see any of the old folks in that seat. Get Wehrlein in there, or heck, steal Gasli or Giovinazzi from RedBull. Spice it up a little!
