That's what you get when you have F1 that provides no spectacle whatsoever. People stop watching on TV, people stop paying money to visit F1.

But please, continue putting everything behind a paywall and raise ticketprices.

F1 needs serious competition. I wish A1GP was still alive. Or even Superleague Formula. Such a nice calendar: Brands Hatch, Assen, Donington, Vallelunga...
But they always have unknown junior drivers and go defunct after a few seasons.

I'll take "Which F1 driver has a 2018 Porsche contract" for $200, Alex

The mental gymnastics employed by fanboys is never not amazing.

Interesting to see that they have different button configurations though. I would have assumed the would be the same.

Interesting, no? I know Mika and DC had physically different wheels most of the time, but this is just odd. I guess it shows how modular they are, but even to have the rollers in different colours?

At Formula E races they have simulators you can play on with a realistic steering wheel replica. I exited the pits and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn off the speed limiter and get the engine in the correct racing mode, until a lady from the staff came in and pressed the correct button for me. It's really confusing and even at slow speed you can't get concentrated long enough to get the right button, I assume it becomes second nature for these drivers but it's a whole job in the job.

I'm reading there won't be a German GP next season.

Throwback to 1993, when only Mark Blundell seemed bothered about yellows in wet weather.

Pfft, improvised chicanes make the racing more exciting, I see this all the time in UK Oval racing, a car at the front of the field gets spun and the rest have to race past it for a couple of laps until it finds the gap in traffic :p

(Saying that, that's dangerous as hell in those conditions, especially with the driver getting out. F1 Dodged a massive bullet that day :O )

I thought Bernie's 'standing starts' after a Safety Car was just another one of his crazy ideas, designed to make any alternative seem more appealing. Then again, maybe not... http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-te ... rs-853792/

I still can't see it going through. Marbles all over the dirty side of the track, drivers with different tyre wear, a dry line on one side of the track etc. But if it does, this seems like a very NASCAR-esque move. i.e, artificial and stupid.

I guess most of those will happen on wet conditions so it wouldn't be an issue

Remember the new qualifying system introduced this year? Yeah. They might do that, but after one extremely stupid failure, they'll scrap the rule.

But before that, they'll probably have more VSC over regular SC.

Just adopt the IndyCar Pace Car rules already, God damnit! Those rules have worked for over a quarter-century already!

It repeatedly amazes me how bad these fellows are to make decisions.

It's like they have never had time to think over the issues before they meet, and to avoid further meetings they urge to come up with any solution, which always is some quick fix in the rule book that wasn't a problem in the first place. The real issues are complex and technical, but they haven't prepared any ideas to solve those issues, and even if they have, Bernie messes up the meeting with his senile propositions and the whole purpose for the meeting becomes to prevent the damage that Bernie's "solution" might cause.

The sooner Ross Brawn brings some real insight to F1 decision making, the better.

What does this line at the end of the article mean?

Quote:
However, by definition, the cars will line up in the order in which they qualified, with no driver unfairly handicapped by losing a lead, for example.

Is that seriously suggesting that the grid reverts to the qualifying positions after each saftey car start, disregarding the race positions? Please please tell me I'm an idiot and interpreting that wrong.
