Still such a better podium ceremony than last year's Hamilton-Beiber lovefest.

Well today was the first race that I watched with the premium live timing alongside the race....gotta say it wasn't boring at all. I spent most of my time looking at the timing and sector data than the actual race. I recommend it. I know that the race was pretty boring without it, but with the timing...exciting.

About Kimi, on the timing could see that he was slow for about 4-5 laps there at the front with clear air losing about 4-5 tenths a lap. This was the race that HE lost.

He was on reds at that time though. A better pit timing could've kept him ahead depsite lesser overall speed.

He got fucked for the first time when he caught up to Wehrlein and Button and lost a few seconds behind them.
Otherwise he would have had a +/- 3 second margin on Vettel before his pit stop, which Vettel could not have swept in just 2-3 laps.

He got fucked for the second time when Ferrari pitted him into traffic. Seriously how dumb was that? Multi-million dollar racing team cannot figure this out?

In a perfect world, Kimi pits, Vettel does a few fast laps but it is not enough. Kimi comes back first and leads the rest of the race to the win.

After this race I realise Ferrari must've won a bunch of new fans just because they're taking the championship fight to (and from ;) ) Mercedes.
Yet these new fans are completely unaware of how the Ferrari team have operated since practically their first race in 1950.

1 driver for the championship, 1 driver plays wingman

Kimi will only be allowed to win when Vettel crashes/mechanicals.

It's par for the course, but I don't remember any of this crap in 2007-2008. Fortunate off-form timing in both cases?

A lot of people argued that Vettel had enough pace to win if he was pitted first, but I don't buy it. He would have been released into traffic, been on the slightly slower tyre, and Kimi would have been straight in on the next lap. Not to mention that Kimi's stop was a few tenths slower.

I tend to agree with you guys, but hearing some of the interviews it seems that people were geniunely surprised they could be that fast staying on track.

If it were only Ferrari, I'd sniff out something too, but RBR and Mercedes kinda did the same mistake.

Vettel said he was surprised the lap times he could do on his old Ultras. I'd put that on him trying to be nice to Kimi and the team, but Daniel said exactly the same (these are the post-race interviews on the free F1 Youtube channel btw).

They both stayed on track because they were the second driver of their team and usually the first to stop gets undercut advantage, but then realized that they could do much better, push for a few laps and get the best out of it.

Vettel was right behind Kimi when Kimi pitted and he put on some great laps (low 1:15's) when he had the track for himself. I would have liked to see Kimi win Monaco but I think Vettel claimed this victory by himself.
