No idea, depends how much Bahrain has paid for exclusivity tbh

Eduardo Freitas being rumoured to replace Masi, which seems to be the only logical choice right now.

Well well well... Look at what actually happened in Abu Dhabi:

This video does make the whole outcome look pretty sketchy, but it's also a very narrow view of the incident. Taking a step back, let's keep in mind that Masi was in the race control room surrounded by other FIA personnel and tons of data/monitors at his hand. So until the investigation report comes out, we don't know for certain that he acted purely on the request from Wheatley.

Secondly, let's not pretend that it's just Horner/Wheatley who try to tell Masi how to operate the race (whom I agree is too weak for the position and frankly needs to be replaced just to get the bitter taste out of everyone's mouths even if he was acting in good faith). I mean there's an example just from that race alone where Toto was heard pleading to Masi not to put out the SC as it would interfere with the race. Like how do you have the audacity to tell a race director to put more emphasis on Mercedes' race than safety?

Is he the WEC Race director, right?

Remove the ability for the teams to talk to the race director.

The story is that Oracle are paying 9 figures for that spot on the sidepod (and the title sponsorship).

I doubt it was that cheap the last time.

Apparently around $100 million per year x 5.

Remember Jeddah, where there were a lot of very questionable decisions, most of them quite favoring Hamilton, causing everyone to say that the championship was sold and Mercedes needed to win?

What, like Verstappen not getting a bigger penalty for causing a collision

Like Verstappen getting asked repeatedly to let Hamilton by, after he already moved off the line, lifted and even braked for Hamilton.

I swear this launch season will feature the least amount of news of any launch season

No-one is going to be showing shit until testing, and if the first is behind closed doors, they might well be covering their cars up the second they get into the pit lane too...

Didn't they ban the practice of screening off the garages during testing a couple of years back? I look forward to that being forgotten about.

I read somewhere yesterday that almost a full grid's worth of the FIA show car have been sold to the teams, and Haas and McLaren may be the only teams who bother to launch a real car. Seems a bit stupid when the budget cap should place a direct limit on how much the teams can react to each other's designs.

Some people really need to get over themselves. God, imagine if Lewy actually retires, the UK would be a modern day Atlantis. :whistling:

It's new to me, and regardless of anybody's bias I don't think it's rolleye material as if it was normal. Nobody wins from having this sort of dogshit stain the sport. Some day instead of Evil Toto and Lady Looouwise losing to a deserving champion, it could be a beloved popular driver losing to an undeserving asshole with exactly the same scenario. This crap needs to go away completely and leave it as fair as possible.

Particularly with people's lives at hand. See how hectic and rushed the whole conversations were, some day an overzealous race director will get a track livened when it shouldn't be, and kill a person on track (marshall/driver/spectator). All those whiney little radio divas will have to answer for it.

The rolleye is because we're 2 fucking months later and some fuckwit on twitter is posting it as if he just found damning evidence.

They should have closed that communications channel much much sooner. It was both teams crying bloody murder while Masi and co should have bee able to focus on getting things cleared up instead of listening to 2 crybabies.

Not only posting it but basically spamming every thread he can find about it. He even tried to lecture Damon Hill on it :slaphead:

Fair enough for the launch bullshit, but what's the deal behind all the secrecy on testing days?

That can't be the teams to prevent spying, because they will all be there on track together at the same time, won't they?

Then why depriving the public from it? Whose decision was this, and for what possible good reason? Is there any actor in this industry still trying to act like they don't have complete disregard for fans?

It was Liberty's decision, and the reason is that they were paid by Bahrain.

They have said that it won't be a showcar, but that could just mean it has different parts :whistling:
