Saint to Renault it seems, Mclaren switching to Renault engines. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/sain ... da-951146/ No real surprise, decent deal for most involved. |

and then McLaren squeezes the engine into a size zero chassis, overheats and repeats so Honda might take Toro Rosso and bring a japanese to the seat |

So Sainz to Renault. Renault engines for McLaren. Honda engines for Toro Rosso, as well as maybe the Japanese McLaren development driver. I think Red Bull is the winner here. They take a gamble with Honda, probably don't even have to pay for the engines. If Honda finally gets their shit together, they will be ahead of Renault (which I'd say they already almost are on par with, apart from reliability) and maybe convert Red Bull to a Honda works-team. McLaren takes the bird in the hand and gets rid of maybe two birds in the bush. Intriguing for next year, exciting. |

Matsushita needs third in F2 for the superlicence points he needs. I can't see him catching either Rowland or Markelov to get there (Leclerc is out of sight). I think this would be a very good opportunity for STR to be properly put on the market as a separate, fully-competitive entity. They will be the only Honda team on the grid. Their profile as a mid-grid team can almost certainly attract better drivers than Gasly, and they will certainly need more experienced drivers than Gasly if they are going to get any useful development out of the package. |

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/saub ... ce-949680/ Sauber hiring 100 additional staff: Quote: Vasseur is in the process of overhauling the team, having taken over from Monisha Kaltenborn, and is turning his attention to the staff numbers after securing the latest spec engine from Ferrari for 2018. The Swiss team's current staff stands at around 320, one of the smallest on the grid, but Vasseur hopes to boost that by around 100 by strengthening all departments, particularly aerodynamics. "The number we are is too small," he said. "We have to grow up, we have to grow up in each department, mainly in aero. More or less, that [400] will be the target." Say what you want about her; good, bad, or otherwise, but the fact is Kaltenborn ran that team into the ground. Hopefully this helps the (currently) weakest team in F1. |

https://joesaward.wordpress.com/2017/09 ... inz-story/ he makes some good points right up to Quote: but there is another driver with immediate F1 experience who will be available as a result of all of these moves: Jolyon Palmer. He’s British, which Williams always likes. He is clearly a decent driver but has had rotten luck with Renault.

F1 needs to be a Palmer-free zone. There are many many drivers out there that are more capable and deserving. |

calling Palmer a unlucky driver... looks like he forgot to say that luck usually goes together with the capable ones |

Probably only Joe Saward and Palmer don't agree with that assessment. |

If Williams like British drivers like that moron claims, why have they only had 2 this century, one of which was a one race stand in? |
