I was thinking maybe someone had been lent a particularly special piece of equipment, usually operated from the pitwall.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

So I was reading an article about potential grid penalties due to engine components being replaced.

Once you used the 5th component in the engine, you get a grid penalty. Then I read something fun:

Quote:
- If a grid penalty is imposed, and the driver's grid position is such that the full penalty cannot be applied, the remainder of the penalty will be applied in the form of a time penalty during the race

1 to 5 grid places untaken - five-second time penalty
6 to 10 grid places untaken - 10-second time penalty
11 to 20 grid places untaken - drive-through penalty
Over 20 grid places untaken - 10-second stop/go penalty

What? That sounds like fun when the end of the season is arriving and everyone gets penalties.

Meh, that'll only apply to RBR and STR

And Honda and perhaps Manor with their average engine it seems.

Dunno if it was posted, but Mercedes clocked a new pitstop record, with a 1.83 second stop for Hamilton.

The previous was by Red Bull with a 1.923 second stop.

Anyone read Lewis' column for the BBC?

I picked this quote from it today, regarding Nicos post race comments from their last outing.

Quote:
We did discuss Nico's opinion within the team after the race, but it would not be right to reveal what took place in a private meeting.

I know I should support Lewis, he is a Brit and my national pride should win out. But he is a hypocrite, a flip flopper (in his statements) and just down right annoying. This one above had me ranting about last season when he couldn't shut up about what was said in post race meetings! Sure, I guess he might have learnt and this shows growth, but I just don't believe it.

If you want a thrill find his old column where he gives his views on the Clarkson incident.

does it really matter, all the things he says? (for example talking about "the best fans here" or "i want to thank the team for the car"). as long as the results are there, he can say pretty much what he wants imo.

Exactly. I couldn't give a shit what he gets up to outside the car (Nicole, dogs, Nicole again, music career, Nicole maybe, bling, oh look it's Nicole )
It's his performance inside the car what matters.

This goes the same for rosberg getting married, Kimis drinking, Alonso's drama-rams where he'll drive etc.
I like wheel to wheel racIng....not a Motorsport. ,

I'm not talking about his hobbies, his romantic life. I agree, they should all do as they like.

I just thought his comments about racing which clash with previous racing based comments and relate to the racing could be of interest. I was wrong.

Yes, not all of it was about racing, but the thrust of my point was

Are we still saying it's the Red Bull that's shit and they should stop complaining about Renault?

Renault didn't do a great job but yes, Red Bull should stop complaining. When I read about all their complaints I can't help but wondering if Red Bull thinks that Renault does this on purpose or something. I mean; they've got the same objective, haven't they? It's not like Renault is happy with the current situation so why all this moaning? It doesn't change anything and they only embarrass themselves.
