Barrichello beat Schumacher between 2000 and mid-2002 only 3 times, while within the same period Kimi has beaten Vettel 7 times. And you could argue that slow Ferrari in 2005 didn't suit for Schumi. Ok, that statistic isn't very impressive. I'm not delusional and I think Kimi has underperformed for years now. It would be interesting how he would perform with number-1 status against, let's say, Hulkenberg or Perez. Against Vettel the match is pretty uneven. |

Sorry, I wasn't too clear with that - when I say 'beat' I actually meant wins, rather than simply finishing ahead. Barrichello won twice in the 2.5 seasons you compared, and Massa won twice when MSC was his team mate for a single year. I agree about it being an uneven match, though - I think first-career Kimi would be more of a match for Vettel, but the statistics nowadays seem to put him squarely in the Button/Barrichello/Webber category. |

The thing is with Kimi, he has reached the David Coulthard, Mark Webber stage of his career. Doing a serviceable job, able to put in the great race every now and then...but ultimately not really fulfilling the seat he is occupying. No one is saying he has fallen to Joylon Palmer levels of....Palmerness. But @  |

Pole in Monaco was no fluke, that's what the Iceman can do when everything clicks. Unfortunately, there's been many cases that somethings gone wrong with the car or the strategy and robbed some great results. Previous time it happened was the qualifying for Spa. Team robbed Kimi's win at Monaco. It's sad that since 2007 championship the media, who hates driver who gives them nothing, has down talked Kimi constantly. The latest Autosports article is a prime example of that. All the good results are forgotten, all the bad luck/timing/reliability too, when the statistics are taken in the play. Kimi's renewal means there's only seven drivers who've had as long career in one team (8 seasons or over). Michael Schumacher (Ferrari), Jack Brabham (Brabham), Jim Clark (Lotus), David Coulthard & Mika Häkkinen (McLaren) and Jacques Laffite (Ligier). Ferrari knows exactly what they get with him. |

Mclaren-Cosworth? Mclaren-Porsche? No doubt about it, this is a desperation move for Mclaren. If Honda gets it right with ?Torro Rosso? next year, they'll have their own Alonso levels of moving guilt when they're still struggling to make Q3 Sadly I think this sees Mclaren doomed to being a 8th-10th place team with occasional good performances for the foreseeable future Not to mention changing the huge amounts of cash Honda are giving them for having to pay for a customer engine supply. This is a huge financial gamble Maybe their tactic now is to put in some solid 6th-10th place performances and occasional podiums until the next rules set when they'll try to tempt another manufacturer into the sport? Mclaren-Toyota?
