Running out of fuel after qualy and not be able to rejoin pits (and marshalls park) is not a reason for penalty?

I dare say the team told him to kill it when they realised they may be a little short on fuel.

Bloody lewis ruins the party. Good run by pastor and Perez. Plenty of potential for tomorrow.

I thought after the Canada incident they had to have enough fuel to make it back to the pits.

Am I right in saying they have to have a certain amount of fuel left in the tank post qualifying so the stewards can take a sample?

If Hamilton did run out of fuel he could be in trouble, However I think its more likely that the team told him to stop to ensure he had enough fuel left for the sample.

McLaren and Williams on front row. Oh my God this must be a dream.

I've put Lewis down for pole ... which probably means it won't happen ... but he was on a quick lap (I think it would have trumped Vettel's but who knows, and it's practice) until he came upon an HRT that was also trying to pass a slow Raikkonen ...

Don't know if Maldonado's lap was entirely unrepresentative ... he's about par with the Sauber which is probably reasonable for their pace, and this year it's a lot closer between all the teams (.25 covering the top 10 in China) but you would assume that the Red Bull did have a bit more fuel on. I don't think it's a complete glory run though - qualifying simulation, probably ...

That was a great tip, followed you up on that one. Should've put (a lot) more money tho, only went with 0.50€ on 3.20 odds which gave me 1.10€ profit.

Pastor was fucking ON IT today. 8O Dude's always been super quick, if he ever calms down and converts it into results he can still be a star. Completely humiliated Senna, to the point he pushed way too far on an unusual part of the circuit getting a very silly spin.

Red Bull fail, they kept Webber in thinking they were safe

LOL trying this strategy with Vettel won't work. He can't win races when he isn't on the front row.

Whitmarsh saying that Lewis had a technical problem.

If he has to drop places, will Pastor be credited with the pole?

You have to have 3 liter fuel in the tank, I assume it's just precaution of Mclaren.

In which case they'll be done for not having enough to get back to the pits.

Just fantastic! This season has been totally unpredictable since the very first race. Who could imagine a first row for a Williams? Alonso in 3rd place is also surprising. Lotus will be really strong in the race, their race pace is propably the best of the grid right now. There is just no way to make a safe bet for the race. The ups and downs of the teams are back to F1 and its something that adds a special taste for the season, RBR dominated at Bahrain and now the best car starts from 8th place. I can't wait for the race, it may be the best Spanish GP at Montmelo ever!

PS: Please, can someone capture and upload the Press Conference? Maldonado there will be epic! I would love to see that!

If Pastor could somehow beat Lewis down to turn 1, the race for the win might be worth watching. I'm worried that Lewis is far too quick otherwise. Then again, this season has generally been very unpredictable. What do I know? :p

Of course, that is if he keeps pole.

Seeing a 2-time world champion slowly around the track in Q3 just because he wants to save tyres and wants to start ahead of another driver who does the same is wonderful. This is what we want to see, THIS is Formula One!!

not going for track position on a track where you can't pass is a major FAIL imho

Actually, McLaren's race pace is not even close to their qualifying pace latelly, Hamilton will have problems to keep the lead, but I think the real contenders to this win are the Lotus drivers, like I said above, Lotus race pace is propably the best of F1 at the moment. They are easy on the tyres unlike McLaren that waste them quickly, but after all the surprises we have seen, I don't exclude any possibility, the race is going to be great tomorrow, the strategy will be crucial for the win.
