More news about Campos Meta 1: One hour ago spanish TV channel LaSexta made a small interview with Adrian Campos and he said there will be a spanish driver for sure.
And spanish newspaper AS also talked with Adrian Campos, he revealed De la Rosa and Gené are candidates

Exactly. David Richards pisses me off massively.

How so?

And as ixnay's pointed out, the FIA were forced to move the goalposts when Williams and Spyker moaned (rightly or wrongly) about the customer car rules. Every single one of the 12 teams who applied for the final 2008 spot made an application on the basis that they could run a customer car.

Well it makes sense to have an experienced driver and they're both good testers.

That's true. De La Rosa and Gené are both good and talented drivers so it won't be a suprise if Campos takes those 2.
Otherwise it would be Fernando.

Gene & dl Rosa, they are both too old, and AS is not the most reliable source

there are far more better candidates for the seat like Rodriguez, Vallés, Villa, Soucek,...

and it may be a wild thought, but what if Alonso would come to Campos? it would be a huuuuggee marketing stunt, Spanish driver in a spanish team, racing on 2 spanish tracks + it would give Alonso a nice challenge, Renault isn't much better atm, Campos could really use a guy that's great on developing a car and is fast at the same time

Well, USA has a much bigger driver market to choose from compared to India.

None of them are F1 drivers material. They have all failed to impress in GP2 and that really rules them out of question. I'd still take Gene over them...

Fernando Alonso has already stated that he wouldn't race in F1 with one of the new teams.

I have a feeling that the Spanish driver is going to be Adrian Campos Jr.

de la Rosa will be 39 next year, Gene 36, plus with the remote testing they only drive a fast singleseater only a few times a year

Not rumours, Adrian Campos has said that this morning.

Probably Campos Team has entered F1 thanks to the connection between Alejandro Agag and Bernie Ecclestone. Agag and Campos has worked together in GP2. Furthermore, Campos team won 2008 GP2 constructors championship, and remember, Ecclestone isn't a GP2 director but his private investment business. I'm sure Epsilon has more potential and better equipment than Campos but we know how the F1 works.

Probably the best spanish young driver is Jaime Alguersuari, but he is linked with Red Bull program, so it's difficult to see him as Campos Driver.

As some people have said here, I think Prodrive hasn't been selected because they had the chance in the past and they didn't compete.

almost forgot him, he's good yes, and redbull never made a point of borrowing their drivers

Well, I think 2010 might just be a couple of years too early for him. Especially with a completely new team that's almost guaranteed to be struggling at the back of the grid.

I don't think Campos will sign two old drivers but one of them is surely option. Would make sense if other driver is either Spanish-speaking from Latin America. Or probably one of Campos's former GP2 drivers, like di Grassi or Petrov.

By the time the 2010 season rolls round Gene would be 36 years old, having not raced regularly since 2000. de la Rosa has driven more recently than that, but would still be 39 years old.

If they take De La Rosa and Gene, the FIA have to give the licence to an other team.

Then remove the license to Renault for giving a seat to Nelsinho Piquet

Quote:
The members of the Board of the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association (ACEA) have announced that the current governance system in F1 cannot continue.

In a statement from Brussels, the European car-makers body announced that "ACEA has come to the conclusion that the FIA needs a modernised and transparent governance system and processes, including the revision of its constitution, to ensure the voice of its members, worldwide motorsport competitors and motorists are properly reflected."

Intriguing... http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns21560.html

But as grandprix.com says: "This is not good news."
