the race was great, the best of the year without SC and so, until Ocon fucked everything

Adrenaline and a feeling of unjust disappointment, always a powerful combination you regret a couple of hours later when it's all drained out of your system

Nor should he be sorry. That was a bullshit move by Ocon.

I understand Max and im totally on his side. Ocon made a stop and got fresh tyres that are quicker by 2sec, but f... it youre a lap down then youre a lap down. Wait and pray for SC then you can pass. You cant re pass the leader (if he doesnt allow it and go aways and make a gap), but Max was not in cruise mode, he had only 2sec gap and there were still more than 20 laps to go. Even if he passed him without crash he would straight away get the blue flags. So his race was f... anyway. And then to race the leader like they are fighting in the same position. I mean seriously.

That would have turned in to a brawl in NASCAR.

Max was about 13 or 14 years old. Hope for a rematch, now.

Colour me surprised. I totally get being pissed off, but he might well have just moved this from a stewards discussion to something more. This isn't the family-friendly competition Liberty are trying to pitch.

You know what? This is fucking awesome. There aren't enough physical altercations in F1 these days, and honestly the one thing it really needs is a full-scale brawl involving two teams and drivers after some real bullshit move on the racetrack. That'd be hilarious. It beats the hell out of using race cars as weapons and possibly killing someone with an intentional wreck.

I wonder what Ocon said. Probably blaming Max I'd bet and Ocon did make it go on after Max was walking off.

The accident was all on Ocon, he tried to fight a losing battle against the leader.

That's what the Haas drivers do any way...

Verstappen had the race in the palm of his hand and threw it away. Yes Ocon could have / should have backed out going through T1 yet Max should have allowed for more space going through T2. He turned in as if no one was there. Unnecessary. Max had no pressure behind him, should have been more circumspect. Shame as he deserved that win.

As for the shoving after the race, I’m @

The main problem with Verstappen is that he never thinks that he's got himself to blame. Unlapping doesn't happen a lot, but it's totally allowed, he should have given Ocon the space you would give if it was a fight for position.

Given what happened, I think what Max did to Ocon after the race was classy.

Max surprisingly accepted blame for China 2018 where he destroyed Seb's race. But yeah that was pretty rare because he's quite thick headed and self entitled at the best of times. I doubt he accepts even 1% blame for this incident.

Even if he passed him he would get blue flags in turn 3, if he would ignore it he would get penalty (like some did today). So however you look at it his race was f....
Max was not crusing around Hamilton was 2sec behind and there were still 20 laps to go...

Ocon was what, 15th? 16th? If he was 10th or 11th, I could understand wanting to unlap yourself but his race was doomed from the start. I can see the situation from his perspective and the perspective that Max should've been smarter and given more room but at the end of the day, Ocon is at fault in this one. I kinda wish their tangle damaged both their cars more leaving them out of the race, which might have led to some on track brawling. That would've been awesome.

I agree that his overtaking was pointless, but the rules allow it. The rules also say that Max needs to leave room for the other car. Rules are not invalidated because of positions or assumed speed on the rest of the lap.
