am I dreaming or did Haas really get P2 today?

Lol it's great that they aren't miles off of the pace, but they're still 3 seconds off.

I think they have only ran softs though, Force India ran supersoft's today and I know Ferrari ran the ultrasofts earlier this week

I'm shocked they are doing so well though for being a brand new team

More like finally a professional raceteam that enters F1 and not a team that is just there to make up the numbers like caterham, virgin and hrt.

I hope McLaren weren't running at their max.

Day 3:

SSN Reports:
[dailymotion]http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3u3ixw_barcelona-test-1-day-3-ssn-reports_sport[/dailymotion]

Paddock Uncut:

Ted's Notebook:
[dailymotion]http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3u3ixx_barcelona-test-1-day-3-ted-s-notebook_sport[/dailymotion]

Worth watching the 1st 5 minutes or so of the SSN Reports just to hear Ted's rant about the qualifying change & his & Rachel's reaction to Lewis walking his dog.

Had to put Paddock uncut on Vimeo because Dailymotion seem to have introduced an upload limit of a total of 2hrs of video every 24hrs.

actually Virgin and HRT had a decent racing history in open wheelers. Just lacked the funds.
Caterham probably had the funds but lacked the commitment by Fernandez as he probably was more interested in his Football club later on.

If Gene Haas can stay committed and companies in the USA are willing to support him the team can succeed. I can see him fund the team himself for the foreseeable future but he wont bankroll it into infinity.

BTW: with succeed I don't necessarily mean winning championships or even races but being around Williams and Force India level. Which should be enough to promote his own brand.

I hope for Mclaren their updates next week will help. The car is still slow and unreliable.

It's early ofcourse, he has only been in F1 for two days, but Haryanto isn't exactly showing good pace. Where Wehrlein did immediately.

McLaren needs more testing, like everyday until season kicks off

in 2009 they started slowly and by halfway trough they were winning as usual

So the McLaren/Honda shit show is going to continue? Just don't forget the fact that with Honda's return in 2000 till 2008 they only won 1 race, and that too was a fortunate one. Their engines' through that period? Slow, heavy and unreliable. Does history repeat...

The 2004 one was pretty good. Once they went to the two engine format though, things went down.

ever since the return of the naturally aspirated engines, Hona weren't 'perfect', although still very much at the top.
Just two years later the Renault engine was the class of the field though and Honda slid away dramatically.

then again, today is turbo era.

nothing official, but usually for the final test, the one driver tests day 1 and 3, the other day 2 and 4.

Depends on the team. Some do it like that, some have day 1 and 2 the same, and day 3 and 4 the other.

Mercedes is splitting each day, Manor will decide on the remainder of its line-up after tomorrow.
