We've only had one race before, in an era where almost every race is boring. So I think you're all a bit harsh in writing this race off already, let's give it one more chance and see how it went on Sunday evening. I never liked Bahrain and Hungaroring but these are providing us with the better races these years.

Don't really understand why BBC chose this as one of their live races again

Probably as everything else decent was already picked and this was their last choice

The only thing that makes this awful track even bearable is turn 3, the rest is simply terrible.

Could be the last Russian GP, rumour is that they haven't paid last years sanctioning fees at all.

Good riddance.

So the only reason this race is on the calendar hasn't even been given to Bernie yet?

Having low expectations is the only way to go atm, at least then the races can surprise us.

At this rate even a 5/10 race will surprise us and get people saying "Actually not that bad!" on Sunday

At least we're not running around shouting OMG CHUVA REGEN RAINSTORMS DEFINITELY WILL HAPPEN ON SUNDAY, BEST RACE EVER DEFINITELY GOING TO HAPPEN WOOOOOH!" then are massively underwhelmed when it's only 7/10

Shit race upcoming. Prove me wrong guyz

Yeah, it's almost like people can make the difference between the event itself, and the eventfulness of the race!

People hate this venue not because it provides boring races, but because it sucks intrinsically. The location, the Mother Russia bullshit.

Having a good race there will not change that opinion, just like a good Valencia race in 2012 didn't make the track/venue magically better, or a few boring races didn't make the Belgian or Japanese GP shit venues that nobody likes to watch.

I am just watching that Valencia 2012 race now, its amazing that its the same track that produced arguably the worst race of all time in 2008.

If a track is amazing to drive like Spa and Suzuka it makes up for the processional races they may produce. If a track is both boring to drive and has processional races, that's when it sucks.

We're going to my parents-in-law for the weekend so I was quite sad that I probably wouldn't be able to watch the next race.

But than I realised that the next race is in Sochi.

So I thought Renault were targeting this race for a new engine upgrade?

I can see Renault giving Red Bull a big fuck you and not bringing their upgrade till the last 2 races, then Red Bull returning the fuck you and not running the upgraded engine at all, depriving Renault of much needed competitive track development on what will essentially be next years engine.

Or Renault could possibly shoot themselves in the foot and not run an upgraded engine at all this year, throw a hail marry, bet the house that their new upgrades work and wait till next year to run it.

Renault should give the upgrade to STR so they can win the last two races, that would be the ultimate fuck you to Red Bull.

I thought the Renault upgrade was due for Austin and that Daniel Ricciardo has already said he's not too excited about it.

It doesn't really matter if next year's Renault is any good or not as the only car running it is going to have less R&D done on it than the 2010 HRT.

give it a chance. Last year the race was dull largely due to Rosbergs stupid T1 approach and tyres being way too hard for the kind Russian asphalt.

This year's tyre choice could change all that and provide us with a good race.

Also a really nice location next to the sea. Would love to go there sometime.

Lotus apparently locked out again.
Keep stalling Renault, keep stalling. Unless you have a design already up and running you're shooting yourself in the foot by waiting this long.

Great, looks like it rains on Friday and Monday, but when it matters, it's nice and boring sunny weather. :tumble:
