7 considering some people had difficulties to overtake during the race and managed good moves to pass, I liked that kind of action

and in comparison with previous spanish gps, with was quite good

6. How can you fall asleep? The race was undecided until the final stops of Alonso and Raikkonen, If Raikkonen had lost a little less time in his first and second stint in trafic they would have been right behind each other for the final stint.

Bahrain was better because there were some nice hard fights. That lacked here but instead we had different strategies that kept it interesting.

If I'm being honest I found it a bit meh. I just found it really dull. There were a few moments were I thought that it might pick up, but really didn't. A 4

I was entertained, certainly better than most races at Barcelona, but also the same feeling that a lot of the entertainment was of unknown relavance.

:? Did you guys watch the same race as me?

I watched 2013 Spanish Grand Prix and what I can tell is that, that was a very exciting race, specially because of a fantastic Ferrari blitzkrieg over Mercedes and Red Bull, having Kimi Raikkonen as the only visible threat.

Alonso's overtakes at the begining made the day IMO and the race itself haven't been that bad. Maybe you were all cheering for Mercedes or McLaren somehow, it might be really sad to see a driver starting on pole (the case of Rosberg) and finishing the race on a 6th place. We also have to consider Vettel didn't win. Nowadays, every single race Vettel doesn't win, it's enough for celebrations.

10 years ago, Spanish GP at Barcelona was one of the worst in the schedule, it didn't have much overtakes, today compared to those days, we had an excellent GP.

My vote is 8/10

Tested out my brand new Dyson Hoover and had a nap.

Managed to fit all of that during the race.

So 5/10 as there was some decent battles at the end and a home winner.

3. Shit. Spent more time talking and socialising in the pub than being enthralled by the race.

However I don't think one shit race is the end of the world, listening to the sky commentary you'd think the world was ending just because the race was boring.
It's very bahrain 2010 when people though there was massive issues with the sport
Just cos it was boring.

So yeah, worst race but not the worst ever

I can't believe people give a 5 or lower for this race. Okay, halfway it was clear how the race would ended without strange situations. But compare these race with the Bridgestone-time at 2004 e.g.... Especially the first 20 laps were very exciting.

You can discuss the situation with Pirelli if it is okay for F1, but the race was good.

And we didn't know If Kimi was taking the lead until Alonso's third pit stop, so it was interesting because of "we don't know If he's taking the lead" factor.

Kimi's tyre strategy was one of the highlights of the day and made Ferrari change their mind about what tyre Alonso and Massa should use during the race.

5/10 - befitting an average race, which it was, not the end of racing, RIP, etc. Decent start and opening phase, unclear what the running order was or would be but did settle down into typical Barcelona - no better, no worse than that.

:Stupid American race fan mode activated:

I had absolutely no problem with this race. I really enjoyed it. Perhaps that's because I tend to like these types of strategy races where the outcome is uncertain. I mean, in previous races, if, say, it's a two stop strategy, all teams stop with 2 laps of each other, regain the track at virtualy the same point they left once the stops cycle out and nothing really happens. I read all this bitching that they're not driving at 10/10's all the time and it's hurting the racing because no one is racing each other, etc.

I'm not seeing the argument that this race as crap because of too many pitstops and no real racing. Christ, back in 2000 or so Schmacher changed to a 4 stop strategy at Magny Cours because he didn't want to have to pass someone as the pit stop cycles. So, as Ross Brawn told him, he pulled out a second a lap more from the car then he was doing normally and got the delta time needed to make another pitstop and retain the lead. He wasn't driving at 10/10's the whole time, only when it was needed.

Same goes for today. Vettel pulls out a 10 second lead and it hangs there for a bit. He's not pushing harder because he doesn't have to. Yesterday, they switched strategy too late for him to mount an effective challenge. Renault decided not to change strategy as the car is good enough and fast enough to get on with the job without having to dick around. They also have a driver who knows what he's doing... No pun intended.

I hope they give them gumballs for Monaco.

:Stupid American race fan mode deactivated:

7.

I am struggling to understand the low rates too. DRS didn't provide here the overtakingfest it generally provides and the middle of the field wasn't that action packed.

I think that was one of that races that were more enjoyable to watch following the live time. Actually, I found it really exciting to see the battle between strategies (and concepts) from Alonso and Kimi. It wasn't the ideal battle directly on track, but it did seem quite interesting and it lasted for a reasonable time. Three points less exactly because of the dull final third of the race.

I don't get the high rating either, I guess that proves we're all different!

I guess it all depends on what you want from an F1 race, if its strategy and unpredictability, this race delivered for you.
If its wheel to wheel action and excitement, Bahrain (!) was more for you. (And me)

The strength of F1 is it can play to both types of fans ;)
