I still don't get why people think this track puts on boring races with no overtaking, There were only really 2 races on this track that you could call boring (2009 & 2010), Rest were either fairly good or in the case of 2005/2006 very good.

Was watching the 2006 race on Sky last night & it was a brilliant race, Lots of good racing & a lot of overtaking.

Posted elsewhere but I thought you might enjoy it. Well, tolerate it. Well...not hate it....maybe.

Bahrain is also so wide and so far from anything that resembles a barrier that I get the same feeling from watching overtaking there as other people do from a DRS pass.

The driver ahead might defend but the chances are that the car behind is still getting by anyway as inside or outside there's still plenty of space to make the pass.

Likewise, the driver behind might try and force the issue to pass the car in front, but as Lewis proved last year you can put 4 wheels completely on the sand and still not have a barrier within binoculars range of the wheels.

No-one wants to see crashes but the closer an overtake comes to a crash while still being completed successfully the better it is.

I don't see it adding anything to the sport at all, and in light of all the negative publicity the race brings, it's highly questionable whether it doesn't paint the sport in a bad light for even being there....but that's not really a debate for now as it involves the media looking for trouble/protests targeting the GP blah blah blah.
But again, why give them the target just for some shitty race in a dustbowl? Who is gaining from this?

If it disappeared from the calender after this season the only person shedding any tears will be an arab billionaire upset at his not being able to boast about his expensive toys he's got racing in his back garden.
F1 fans would shrug and move on to speculating what track would take its place....

The race last year was great, however, but I put that down to the "big 3" (Kers, DRS, Pirelli) rather than the track.
Heck that combination brought us good racing at VALENCIA for goodness sake!

2009 had a pretty good first few laps but it all got dull by the end.

The 2006 race was probably the best one so far, good overtaking with Button and Rosberg and the Schumacher/Alonso battle. One race in 8.

I remember watching the 2006 race live and being left underwhelmed. Although the Alonso / Schumi battle was intense. In the past years when the GP has come up in conversation I've gone back and re-watched it. I still don't get the hype some people give it. Last year was probably the best race this track as given F1, but it was hardly a classic and looking back over the "rate the GP" thread I only gave it a 6.

I didn't even watch it last year due to a power cut.

Still wonder about that 2006 GP whether Massa crashed on demand?

The guy who asked Button about making strategic gambles is F1Zone's founder :p

Also, Kovalainen targeting a race seat, but not pressurising Van der Garde/Pic

And here's Romain's helmet

Yes, I agree. During those three races my sleep intensity was enormous.

Worst race of the season. Shit country, shit track.

Usually I don't like these kind of posts, but I actually agree lol. The last race I saw here live must've been about 4-5 years ago. Even when I can watch it I just record it and skip through the good bits later. Absolutely detest this track.

same with me. Useless piece of car parking corners :yuk:

Not excited for this weekend, as usual for Bohrin. In the mean time, the awesome Turkish circuit is out of the calendar, fuck this shit. This world is one cruel place sometimes

I enjoyed 2010 because it allowed me to roll out the Two-pack Sakhir joke when the new teams were miles off everyone else.
