The driver who deserved it most was Kubica. Of the two final contenders I would say Hamilton deserved it more, he has produced a couple of special drives this year and had a perfectly good win at Spa unfairly taken away from him.

Only the results count. Kubica and Alonso were not fast enough to win this year, whether it was the driver or the car doesn't matter at all.
One thing I'm sure of is that Kovalainen sucks, that's all about it.

I think both drivers deserved to win. Massa had some team mistakes and technical problems, Lewis had unfair penalties (and others that helped Massa like the one Bourdais) so in the end i think the title would be fair to whoever won it.

Massa deserved it in the end because of the way he recovered from such a bad start of the season. Hamilton had less mechanical failures and made more mistakes (especially a particular one that I will never forget in Canada). Hopefully next year is just as good.

Massa. He had to give up his home race last year to help Raikkonen.

They both deserved it IMO, both made some stupid mistakes and both got some bad luck during the season.

But looking at all the bad luck I have to say Massa. He lost more points by mistakes from other than Hamilton. He lost 2 victory's: in Hungary and in Singapore which weren't his mistakes. And just because all the critics he got in the begin of the season of him not being able to adapt to the cars without traction control.

But anyway I can live with Hamilton also because they where both my favorites at the begin of the season.

I remember Massa's spin at Malaysia which would be counted as "unforced error" in Tennis, the team destroyed Massa's hopes by using a silly light system as a pit release. With a lollipop you could've slammed it in front of Massa's face, so it would've been a thing of 5 seconds or so instead of nearly a lap.

Hamilton of course made mistakes as well like in Canada, but I can't remember any pitstop mishap at McLaren, may be strategy wise, but he was the better driver over the whole season. No one can do 18 races without a mistake and he was punished by silly penalties. Spa was, well, something one can talk about, but for me not the way racing should be decided. But he might've gained an advantage. The bad thing is that this decision now destroyed all racing like it already came to play in WTCC. Fuji was a joke tbh.

Though Massa performed well mostly and scored more victories, but even if it's just a point, Hamilton deserves it, even if it's just because of Malaysia and Singapore. I don't know where he would have finished the race under normal conditions, but let's say he and Ferrari gave away 8 points each he would've been champion by country mile

I agree with the most wins system but also think the Spa penalty was beyond ridiculous, and so Hamilton is the deserving winner either way.

I think the constructors table tells the true story.

Ferrari had the superior machine. Indeed in the early season I think Hamilton did well to remain in touching distance of the Ferrari's sometimes.

But they threw it away with driver and team mistakes. And terrible wet pace/handling in a season that suddenly decided to have any race having a 50/50 chance of rain instead of the usual one wet race every three years....

So yes, I believe the right man won in the end before you even start to bring in the penalties thing....

Both deserved, but Hamilton made more personal mistakes (like in Montreal), and Massa had some issues with the team (like Monaco and Singapore), plus the engine breakouts like in Melbourne and Hungary


but Hamilton scored more points, had the pressure for having such a great rookie year in 2007, and the more important, had to break a 40 year old curse, so congratulations, and in 2009 Alonso will be back

I think you can attribute that more to Heikki taking a while to adjust to the new team and car. Oh and Mclaren giving Heikki the short end of the stick when it came to strategy, especially qualifying fuel loads.
