Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if some older fans still regard Barcelona, Hungaroring and Suzuka as "new" tracks.

And because we're addicted to F1, we can't just decide not to watch. Who wants to miss the race of the century? Yes, even Abu Dhabi "might", just might turn out to be fantastic if you're skipping it.

Not for the Max dominance but the 22 race schedule is just too much. I dont even look forward to a race anymore. With 16-17 races you almost always had at least 2 weeks in between. It was something to look forward to. Now its race after race after race after race.

if 16 of those races were in Europe or on classic tracks I wouldn't mind

but again, I'm paying to watch the races now so there's also the monetary issue

This too. Next year will have 24 races, it´s just not special anymore.

Bahrain was introduced 19 years ago. It's now an solidly established classic, and even more so with all the historical battles/victories/accidents that occurred there.

For comparison, I started watching F1 seriously in 1996. 19 years before that was 1979.

What about Hockenheim. People that weren't even born when it was last used wish the old track was still around

I will never get the "hype" around that place. It was just a bunch of straights and chicanes and a twisty bit at the end. Not exactly the greatest test for drivers.

The "new" one is not Spa or Suzuka but it produces good racing.

I think it's because it was different, and they changed it into something of which we already had several.

Monza is great for high speed, but we don't need 20 races of it. Monaco is great, you can't pass but every mistake will cost you, but we don't need 20 street circuits. Even 2 races in Monaco would be too much. A lot of the other tracks are just something inbetween, different lay-out but same concept.
Old Hockenheim stood out, you take the first turn and from then on it was full throttle (after a while with chicanes) into the forrests until you returned to the stadium. Would the engine survive? Nobody knew. Usually this race was planned just before the Hungaroring, so the contrast couldn't be bigger. New Hockenheim has had its good moments too, but it is no longer special. No longer unique.
