It missed a battle for the lead but other than that it was very entertaining, a fat 7.

7/10.

I was with high expectations because of the weather but overall, the few overtakes were worth watching.

Jesus Christ you people, we've had passing like that in that corner pretty much every year. It was a brilliant move, no doubt, but nothing we haven't seen before. Indeed, Lewis took the lead from Vettel there in 2011

One boring race in Melbourne was "too early to tell" but one wet/dry race after that is a definite article that F1 is saved?

Ok.

That's the point(we didn't!) and why you think DRS and cheese tyres are great. You don't bother to differentiate a genuine overtake, which requires plenty of skills from a driver(some can while others cannot. As Vettel and Verstappen could but Ricciardo and Kimi couldn't. Those two factor just dumb it down and makes it possible for everybody, increasing the total number of position swaps) and a position swap.

Hamilton's car simply had MUCH more acceleration out of T6(Vettel's tyres were dead) and he simply flew-by Vettel in that short straight before T7. Zero skill involved. Vettel had to work out good lines through Turns 1,2,3 and 4 in order to be able to get close enough to Ric(who still had decent tyres) on T6. But that wasn't all. The outbraking on the outside was not quite easy, on it's own.

Because the tyres weren't falling apart and DRS wasn't giving free passes(unless on the Mclaren), it was the first time(and I didn't even watch the last two season but 2012/2013/2014 are enough to know) that F1 had genuine racing, in a long time.

The only good battles I remember from 2011/2014 are the Vettel/Alonso on Silverstone 2014 and Schumacher/Hamilton on Monza 2011. China 2017 had a little of that, so this year is already on a better path than previous F1.

I'm surprised with the high rating you(not only you codename) gave to this as I was sure you wouldn't/won't concede and will underate the races as much as you can.

F1 took a huge step up in 2009 and again over the next few years banning refueling and bringing in Pirelli etc

Not that I agree with them but, on autosport forum, Noikee(don't know if he still posts here) opened up a thread for people to choose their favourite season in the last decade and the most popular on the poll was 2007/2008 and many people there are saying F1 was over when they banned refueling :D
