Let's wait for Red Bull, either now for their launch or.... to finish after Mercedes in the australian race.

Anyway, a lot of tasty better aero tech over the first 3 launched cars. A real eye-candy for me. 8)

the wheel base is massive with these cars. visually i wish they were a little more compact, but maybe it will lead to more incidental contact and incidents

Well the details are quit simply insane, just have a look at the front suspension contact point. They weren't kidding when they said that they were aggressive with the new car:

Comparing to W07, that A-arm / pivot geometry should givethem more freedom with suspension setup but I'm not sure if that's the reason. Maybe they use it for aerodynamics.

I'm sure rosberg is like "meh whatever" but I'd be kicking myself if I were him.

But then again, it does look a little fragile so...hopefully we see more mechanical problems this year for the entire field. ;)

ROSBERG RETIRED BECAUSE HE KNEW HOW MUCH HARDER THE CARS WOULD BE TO DRIVE AND HE WASN'T UP TO THE CHALLENGE HAHAHAHAHJAJAJAJAHAHAHA

/disengage Facebook mode

Easily the best looking of the launched cars so far, smart of them to eschew the shark fin at the launch even if they're going to use it
(Looking at how their dominance may increase, they may not even need it :p )

If 2017 is going to be dull, at least the cars at the front will be as good looking as they bore us.

I already expected Mercedes to come with a beautiful car as they never adopted the ugly noses(since 2014 rules). The front suspension is really different/radical/aggressive but we'll have to wait and see if it lives up to it.

Unfortunately, I think the W08 have a guaranteed dominance due to their PU which will probably strech it's legs over it's rivals even more, this year.

Reminds me a bit of 2012 and how Mclaren were the only team that didn't play the stepped noses game.

It seemed to pay off for them too, they were the fastest team of the first couple of races too. Dominated Melbourne, was on pole in Malaysia and led before rain....

I kinda want Mercedes to dominate this year just so all the engineers copy their aero for 2018 and we'll have a slightly better looking grid :p

Jesus the wheelbase looks long enough to make an F1 limousine out of that thing.

It remains to be seen but you'll never see Red Bull go for better looking over aerodynamically efficient, they were all over the stepped and pencil noses when those were the best way to channel air (tried to hide them with the livery, but still, they were there)

If it even gives them a tenth of a millesecond performance, expect a design worse than Force india with the biggest shark fin of them all.

If they show up without these things, rejoice, for the god of aero Newey has decreed shark fins unnecessary. :p

The low profile rear wing on the Merc makes the whole thing look more visually appealing, but whether the racing will be somewhat decent is a different matter
