That Mclaren is boring as fuck. Welcome back Ron Dennis.

it is meant to be a one-off, while waiting to announce a new main sponsor. Wouldn't surprise me, come Abu Dhabi, that the livery is still the same.

Still a major improvement over the Vodaphone-liveried car, and better than 2006 as well. But no way near to the class of the beloved West livery.

I'm not blown away by the new livery, but it's most definitely heaps better than Vodafone red + chrome.

Better than 2006? That livery was extremely tast. Not too much color like the Vodafone one, and not as boring as the current one...

the red spoiled that one.

Supposedly that Fly Emirates deal was a bargain.

McLaren's last good livery was 1997. After then the West livery was no longer unique or interesting (as well as over-rated) and everything else from then on was just an adaption of that 1997 classic.

Seeing that 2006 car reminds me how hideous all the flick ups where. I'd much prefer the newer cars if they had wider rear wings and smaller front wings, but I think they're better looking still. Well, at least they were until the new noses.

I thought the 2014 cars DO have smaller front wings?[/pedanticmode]

Digital flags are probably easier to get correct. Unlike this event in Turkey 2005: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCAjgQ-Ttlg

Don't find a picture, but I also remember a race where Michael Schumacher was Finnish and Kimi Räikkönen German according to the flags on the podium.

Back to the McLaren livery, I've just read that this is a special one to celebrate 20 years of Mobil 1 and McLaren partnership! The team is yet to reveal the main sponsor name. I didn't know you could run a one race livery in F1 nowadays, that's something very interesting and a great selling strategy for diecast models when they get released.

I've gone through some websites and I found a little piece of what the new McLaren livery is going to be. The chrome is still there:

I saw the picture of the design, but not the car itself, this is why I went through to find some piece of the real thing. Was there anything about the car itself back there?

I just hope we get a safe weekend. There's a high chance someone's going to stall at the start or at least be slow (remember some teams have yet to do a practice start) so hopefully no-one ploughs into someone else.
