Minimizing people's joy is important.

We will never agree on this, but one thing we can agree on is that yes, the race was pretty boring apart from the will he finish or won't he.

Oh and in regards to the nationality thing, my favorite driver is actually that divisive pantomime devil Alonso. I love him to death, but even I can see that he only has himself to blame (a tad Ferrari) for not being a 5 time world champ.

You can have a fantastic performance in a dull race

Micheal Schumacher's "extra pit stop" races in Hungary 1998 and Magny Cours 2004 (?) were tactically brilliant, but dull as balls to watch as they didn't involve any overtaking, just putting in qualifying style laps then coming out ahead.

So I'm not sure quite why people are arguing.

It's also possible to say both Micheal Schumacer and Ricciardo did brilliant jobs in difficult, but not identical circumstances

Why everything must be compared these days as an either/or is baffling

I think that is neither mine, webbsy's or anyone's point.

Hungary 1990 was actually a pretty good race, and drive from Boutsen. There was a lot of action and incidents at the front.

I can remember feeling very frustrated after that race, as Berger and Senna got away with some pretty desperate driving. By today’s standards both would have received hefty penalties.

The 1989 Hungarian GP was pretty great as well. Even before Patrese picked up a mechanical issue which dropped out of the lead.

Which was the one where there were 2 half flips at the first chicane, 1990?

I remember thinking that one was pretty good for a Hungary race, also 1989 with Mansell's passes

I guess F1 didn't outgrow that track until 1993 at the earliest.

Yes. Senna punted off Nannini, while Berger did the same to Mansell.

Can't quite make it out on a small screen, but Mansell on Berger(?) at 27s is basically Schumacher on Barrichello.

I think this was the best bit of Monaco Grand Prix this year.

The Berger and Mansell incident isn’t included in this video. But their incident is near identical to the Senna and Nannini incident which is shown.

I don't mean the chicane punt - at 00:27 the VHS-blur McLaren pulls out on the pit straight and is driven towards the wall by the MPEG-artifact Ferrari

I get you now. Although Mansell’s defense is nowhere near as aggressive as Schumi’s 20 years later. What Mansell did was fairly standard for Hungaroring at the time.
