Ferrari close which is good to see. Everyone else over a sec away, that gap to 9th is depressing. 2004.....

Thing about 2004 is that lap times of the cars at the back of the 10 would have been good enough for pole in 2004

So it's Ham vs. Vet that we all waited for.
Bottas not far from Hamilton, considering it's his first weekend. Kimi was much closer to Vettel in Q2.

Wow, some big gaps there to Ferrari and Mercedes.

Williams, Haas, STR + 2 seconds
Force India, Renault, McLaren + 3 seconds
Sauber + 4 seconds

Well, still early days. As always, great job by Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso, getting the maximum out of the car.
Grosjean had a great qualifying, too. Too bad for Giovinazzi, could have beaten Ericsson.
Raikkonen with his +0,6 to Vettel, Stroll, Palmer and Magnussen were disappointing.

Huh? So p10 was good enough for pole, how does that work?

P10 would have been nearly good enough for pole back then, time wise

3rd was half a second behind, 5th 1.2, 10th 1.8 not tha different the top 5 at least.

2004 allowed fake results in QLF as slower drivers would do a glory run on low fuel

The cars are fun to watch. Hopefully the tyres may allow the drivers to push a bit harder in the races this year. Best hope for tomorrow is if the Ferraris can get off the line well.
