Heidfeld has always been "unlucky" in F1 IMO ... Pretty a shame because I think he is really talented.

NB : unlucky but if I could be a his place (F1 driver for 10 years and in the same team as Schumi) I would be one of the happiest people on earth :p

Heidfeld's run of bad luck started when McLaren didn't sign him to a race seat after testing so well for them the previous season. He then had to race that dog of a Prost, then was signed to Sauber for 2001. McLaren signed Kimi for 2002, despite Heidfeld having a better season than Kimi.

So they had a potential 36 million dollar already (20 from Chad and the rest from drivers, sponsors excluded if they had some)? Campos has to do with lesser and is likely to end up in Bahrain.

It's totally a shame for USF1 ... I can't imagine they said they were very serious (Windsor & Anderson) and they totally fucked up :o :(

Yeah I agree with that but Kimi was seen as more promising in 2001. :( Life is not always fair ...

Agree with that, Nick definitely deserves to show his talent (it won't be this year, unfortunately)
Sutil reminds me a bit of Heidfeld btw...i like Sutil, he is very good.

The Daily Mail (yes, I know) seems to think that it's going to be Mika.

Isn't Weber already tied up with the Hulk, anyway?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I know, but Flavio was advantaged by the fact that he had 3 seats on the grid to put his drivers into (2 Benetton\Renault, one Minardi). A lot of managers do only manage one or two drivers, and I would assume that if Weber was to expand again he would go after someone who isn't quite as good as Nico to avoid a potential conflict. It's not inconceivable that 5 years down the line both Lewis and Nico are going after the same seat.

Chandhok announced as HRT driver
Thursday, March 4th 2010, 12:48 GMT

Karun Chandhok has been confirmed at the new HRT Formula 1 team, ahead of its official presentation in Spain today.

Chandhok will be presented to the public at the Murcia unveiling, which is set to confirm the team's new identity and its plans for 2010.

Colin Kolles, HRT's team principal, said: "I am very pleased to use the Murcia site to officially unveil our car livery today. We also complete the driver's team line-up with the Indian Karun Chandhok at the wheel of the car for our first ever season. "We have been very impressed with Karun's performance in GP2. India is a great country. It will be great for the sport to have an Indian driver on the grid for the first Indian Grand Prix. Murcia is part of the roots of the team. "Everything is now in place after an impossible race against time to register the team's name and I truly believe that we have an excellent platform to build on and move forward for a strong 2010 performance. Now, we need to work together. We need to learn together and keep developing as a team."

Jose Ramon Carabantes, the team chairman, added: "The new HRT F1 Team, Hispania Racing F1 Team is born in Murcia. I am proud to welcome you in Murcia where the team has its roots and to have given to my country the pride of the first ever Spanish Formula 1 team. "The name of the team contains the word Hispania, which is not only the name of one of my companies, but Hispania was also the Roman name for the Iberian Peninsula. That reflects now our team's new identity. 2010 will be a major debut for the team and drivers at the wheel of our HRT F1 Team car."

Whoo hoo new livery later on

HRT - best of luck with them, but all I can think about is Hormone Replacement Therapy.

The silly season is at last over...almost. There are still 2 third drivers to be confirmed, at Sauber and at HRT.

Sauber seem likely to go for Betrand Baguette or they may improve the role of Esteban Gutierrez who was signed to the team as a developmental driver a few months ago.

It has been assumed that HRT would go and sign Jose Maria Lopez and negotiations had been engoing but it appears that Pastor Maldonado has crowbar'd his way into the discussions and is now the more likely candidate to take the seat.

Well he's better than Montagny :p

Well he's not great but out of drivers who wouldn't demand a high salary (Heidfeld) he's probably one of the best

Erm ... I was in a good mood since I have read your post :p :p

Seriously I don't see Chandhok as a consistant driver (Baguette was IMO better) but I can understand that he brings money and he is Indian ... 2 things which help him ! But I won't say he is a decent driver (2 wins after 3 GP2 Main Series seasons... :S)

Well, its difficult to rank lower formulae drivers when you have to consider: what series they're in, what the car is like and who the opposition is. Remember in 2009 Chandhok was driving for ORT who were new and had quite a few tech problems...

He's probably one of the best you could get that haven't already raced in F1. I mean, who would you have?

Chandhok is shit. He's been driving junior formula cars for a decade, and in his 3 years of GP2 he was beaten by his 3 team-mates: Borja García, Bruno Senna and Álvaro Parente. Notice that in 2008 he drove for the reigning champions team iSport and ended up 10th in the championship. He's not Yuji-Ide-bad but doesn't deserve a Formula 1 seat.
