Interesting statements by the FIA. Quote: "The FIA must make rational decisions based on the information provided to us by the Bahraini authorities and by the Commercial Rights Holder." So basically, the FIA are saying they get to make the decision, but aren't responsible for it? So if they decide to host the race but it goes wrong, they'll blame FOM and the local authorities? That's rather convenient for them. |

Well, the Bahrain GP certainly won't be a boring event. The race could be a borefest though...but I kinda miss the track now that I think about it.

The way its configured and if they get the DRS where it doesn't make passing too easy it could be a good race. Something major will happen at the race, what it may be is anyone's guess. |

Well, I don't think this is the last of it this weekend by any means. The reality is I'll be watching a motor race next weekend constantly hoping everyone stays safe and that nothing kicks off. That means I won't be enjoying the actual racing, so it detracts from the event. I just pray no-one gets onto the track because if anything does happen then the sport is going to get dragged down into a hole that might take it years to recover from. |

I don't think anything will happen on track. Cameras will be told not to show anything that might look suspicious (the streakers that happen now and then at football matches are mostly not shown). And the regime will have as much as possible police/army/whatever that any protest would immediately broken down. Furthermore it's not a circuit where you have people along the whole track attending. So they will probably put all the audience at the start/finish line, so they can better control the situation. And another thing, many of the protesters seems to be 'poor', I can't see where they can get the money to buy the very expensive tickets... |

I'm assuming any potential protestors aren't intending on paying to get in... I'm guessing if anything happens, it'll happen outside the track rather than on it. They're going to have a fuckload of security there to stop anyone getting in in the first place. |

I doubt whether the Saudi army presence that is in the country would be able to hold that number back should it materialise. |

I'm just going to be uneasy until everyone leaves Bahrain. I wouldn't be surprised if they waited until Thursday to get there and even maybe stayed in nearby Qatar. I know people say 'yes but F1 goes to China and there were riots in England last year'. Granted, China has an appalling human rights record, but the difference here is that protesters have vowed to directly target F1 and the personnel involved with it. One team boss has said that he is being constantly bombarded with questions from mechanics etc who say they don't want to go. |

I see nothing happening on the track. But considering we had demonstrations 20 Kilometers far away from the track I imagine how unpleasant will the environment be in the surroundings of the track. |

for some reason I think nobody lives in Bahrain and that the only thing there is is the track and a few hundred people going there every year. |
