I agree with Fabs.

Wrecks and flips means a healthy series.

Yeah, yet he was the number 1 guy moaning about how the drivers can't push any more.

So Tyre saving is shit but fuel saving is fine?
Feck off, JV
I think his point was that he doesn't mind fuel/tyre saving when its purely down to the driver feel as was the case in the past.

The problem with the tyre management last year seemed to be that it was all been done off the data with drivers been told how fast/slow to drive, Where to watch the tyres & what laptimes to aim for.

With the fuel saving this year as he said in the article, It will all be done by computer & again off the computer data. Drivers won't be slowing down/speeding up based off what there feeling in the car they will be doing what the data there engineer's is getting is saying should be done.

I completely agree with him on that.

Thank you for your support.

Obviously rain is also important.

It may be fun for six months, but after that everyone gets bored, and once you start going artificial you have to do it more and more to the point where it's not even real racing anymore."

Unfortunately we will never see real racing again in F1, it's not about the sports anymore, it's just the business, only a major lose in the F1 profits could make things actually change, but this isn't only an issue from F1, racing at all has decreased a lot. I just hope the rule changes and the new engines may mix things up a bit. At least it seems that the possible problems the teams may face all over the season, could make the results more unpredictable and the races interesting to watch until it's last lap, I still want to see how the teams will hanbdle the fuel useage, I haven't read anything yet on that regard after the Jerez tests, the focus was basically on engine reliability.

Exactly! But that's something we will hardly see again, with the simulators and the help from computers, the driver's feelings towards the track conditions loses 90% of it's importance. It's completelly different from the 80's, for an example, where the drivers knowledge on car setup and track feeling could be the diference from success and failure as the team data were mostly gathered by that track experience, right now you can calculate and simulate a whole race time with the softwares, so the racing itself lost a lot of it's pure state.

Says the guy (JV, not you) who commented F1 races on French TV last year and did nothing but to complain and moan every time a driver did something such as getting too close to another driver or forcing him out of the racing line to make a pass. What a joke.

It's no wonder I haven't watched a full season since 2008 or so. Or a full race since...2012.

No, they're trying to adapt to the current world.

It's a choice really. Either you adapt and make the series survive through the coming decades, or keep an obtuse mind, go buisness as usual and have it abruptly disappear when it's finally not possible to run it at all.

Bloody xenophobes. [/sarc]

I suppose this means that Sirotkin is completely frozen out now. Hope he can find somewhere more promising.

Nope, he's still there as a reserve driver alongside Giedo (although I think Sirotkin is effectively the #4 at the team)

Swiss press says she Simona will do the tests at Silverstone & Abu Dhabi and get FP1 outings at Austin & Abu Dhabi.

For that you need to get a opportunity to drive. Since Giedo is already paying big bucks, I doubt she will get much track time... Hope she get's it. But I think she had a good chance of becoming a race winner in Indycar, wish she stayed there.

What? Up and down a runway? In a simulator? She's not going to get a proper chance until she finds money. They had Frijns on the same deal last year and he had to scratch and claw for his opportunities. And the ones he got will be taken by vd Garde. Shesbetter off hunting for something in Formula E.

Sauber doesn't have a simulator, so it won't be that.

As I posted above, Swiss media is under the impression she'll do two tests and two FP1s late in the year.

Maybe being a swiss driver in a swiss team can attract some swiss sponsors. And she has the potential to become very popular, given the girl factor.

When was the last time a woman turned laps during a Grand Prix weekend?

:fishr: got some laps in a McLaren in 200(4?) but I don't think it was at the USGP weekend.

If not, then it would be Amati.

2002, did three laps in the spare McLaren. Only a demo and was 15 seconds off Young's practice time, but during a GP weekend.
