My experience of people with law degrees is they are often among the worst for thinking the law doesn't apply to them.

I think you mean to say that they are immensely intelligent, but they have a total lack of common sense.

That too, although I'd disagree with that observation about the present one I'm dealing with, he was quiet literally stupid enough to put in writing 'that legislation does not apply to me', I can't wait to see the Judge's face when he reads that, so highly intelligent, I think not, highly arrogant more like it.

they are just too busy trying to get money from their clients

I guess Monisha is doing that to the sponsors of Nasr and Ericsson

What would it cost Sauber to pay him out? Does anyone know the agreed figure of his contract? I was thinking if it's somewhat large, would running a third car this year for Sauber be cheaper?

The big rich teams don't even want to run a 3th car because of the costs. Doubt Sauber has the cash. Let alone the rights to do so.

I'm hearing his sponsors paid around 10-15 million.

Is that 10-15 million for 2014 alone or across 2014 and 2015 on the basis 2015 would include a full time race seat?

From my understanding 2014 and 2015 including a raceseat for 2015.

Kaltenborn really should have included a few opt-out clauses in her contracts.

I assume Nasr alone pays 20 million+ for just 1 year.

I would guess the first 4 rounds? He does World series by Renault & that starts the 26th April, & Round 4 of the F1 takes place on the 19th of April, so it looks like someone else could get the seat at the beginning of the European part of the season....

Even with a clause it's a fishy practice. "Hey, if you pay 15 mil, you will be able to race for us for one year". "Oh never mind, you can't race, thanx for that money!".

a proper contract would say that vdGarde pays x amount for testing in 2014 and y amount for racing in 2015 but the team has the option to go for a higher paying driver but vdGarde has a few weeks to better that offer.

But when the team exercises that option vdg is absolved from paying his commitment, I haven't followed the case at all but from what I gather the oppersite happened, or he paid for y up front and didn't get the money back.

Maybe Sauber shouldn't try and stitch people up, you start to get a reputation after a while for doing that and no amount of niceness makes up for it.

Another piece of trivia in Sporcle.com by me. This time about drivers participating in free practice session but not the race itself.
