75% Renault power could equal to 110% of the others, don't discount them out simply cos Newey won't compromise on his design.

Not sure about that, power hasn't exactly been Renault's strong suit.

Even if, Worst/best case scenario, Renault are out of this year's championship, it'll only be for 2014.

They'll be right back in 2015 and Newey will be able to dominate the sport once again.

That's just a concept somebody on the internet made. Don't think it will be that livery.

I just read that Williams just signed a 3 year deal with Petrobras!

That's good news of course, it's an interesting political platform for brazilian drivers (maybe a last attempt to secure brazilian investments in F1 and support our drivers, even with a shortage of talents renovation). Once PDVSA does the same for Venezuela, why not Petrobras for Brazil?

It's looking good so far, we have two giants interested and above all still believing in F1: Petrobras and Banco do Brasil. We have to believe F1 is still for brazilians. Hopefully it turns to be a succesful deal.

even when Renault had one of the most powerful engines they weren't the most powerful (kudos to BMW M Turbo). but their main issues now is about the heating of the ERS rather than the turbocharger and engine itself. that's where toyota and bmw would have come up to win championships IF they had stayed. too bad for them :p

There's a great article in Autosport magazine today on Philippe Streiff, where he talks about his Rio testing accident, the immediate aftermath and his rehabilitation. An interesting and very sad story. Once it goes up on the site I'll share as it is definitely worth a read.

a brazilian journalist (who might be a tbk member dunno) usually writes telling the stories about backmarkers from F1 and he told the whole AGS story, speacilly the 1989 testing. AGS had an unsafe head protection, plus the bumpy streets that the ambulance ran caused even more damage to Streiff injuries

None of that is true according to Streiff.

ah I forgot to say that those were claims of the press (and Streiff's wife, according to Verde) at the time

Streiff says the head protection was fine according to the safety rules at the time. It was the marshalls handling of him (use Gugelmin Paul Ricard 1989 as an example) and the length of time it took to airlift him to hospital were the biggest contributing factors.

Jacques Villleneuve being right as ever: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112511

"I don't understand what they are trying to do. I don't understand the concept. Formula 1 is not epic anymore, the drivers are not heroes. The problem is that the changes are being made in an artificial way and that doesn't work. It may be fun for six months, but after that everyone gets bored, and once you start going artificial you have to do it more and more to the point where it's not even real racing anymore."

He usually speaks a lot of crap but in this case he's right about quite a few things. He always tends to have the glass half empty approach but even so, some of what he says makes sense.

Equally, you wouldn't need many changes to make F1 more epic, but then you'd need several agreements etc.

JV is always right.

Quote:
"They are trying to cater to the wrong people," he said. "They are trying to cater to the 'greens', but F1 is not green so there is no point even trying.

It's no wonder I haven't watched a full season since 2008 or so. Or a full race since...2012.

I don't think I've given a shit about anything JV has said since about 1999 or so...

Loved him blasting the sport but saying "Fuel saving is fine...."

Yeah, yet he was the number 1 guy moaning about how the drivers can't push any more.

So Tyre saving is shit but fuel saving is fine?
Feck off, JV

Fuel saving will be the "DRS/Pirelli are ruining the sport" of 2014 tbh.

A shame the NASCAR thing never worked out; he would have shat a brick at what they've done this winter.
