Ha. Well, the first part of the race with the soft tyres losing performance and then returning unexpectedly, caught everyone by surprise.

I understand that you're frustrated because Alonso has lost the championship from a good position but don't blame Petrov for that. Alonso and his team made a bad decision and that's it. Vettel owned btw

So it ended up 1:1, as Spain won Soccer World Championship, Germany won F1 World Championship (and Eurovision Song Contest)

Well Ferrari are going to have a tough winter break. Alonso will ponder what might have been whilst the team will bitterly regret their strategy. Plus its pretty obvious the car has been lacking pace a lot this season and they have one of their drivers very low on confidence and form. In contrast, Red Bull have just won both titles and have Newey. Critical component in 2011 will be KERS. McLaren's was very effective in 2009, that might swing it.

Sorry Phil gonna call you out on this one :p
Confidence means fuck all. It what the designers do between now and March, then through next season. You don't think Mercedes/Brawn were confident after last season? But by and large they were still pretty goddamn shit compared to everyone else  :p

Yeah. Actually, I'm partly expecting Red Bull to rest on their laurels and have a slightly poorer season. But then they have Newey, who the laws of aerodynamics obey, so I doubt it - they should at least be challenging for the title again

If I was mad enough to put my money on anyone at this moment in time, it would be on Vettel again, but usually my early predictions are wrong

Kubica, Petrov, Vettel were outstanding, my vote goes to Petrov.

I think something hindering passing in terms of the track is that the chicane at turns 5/6 is too tight/slow & kills passing into the hairpin at 7.

Have the straght run from turn 4 to the hairpin & I think that would become a better passing zone. Also the hairpin would then not be quite so slow which may help cars exit the corner a bit closer together. I also think the turns 8/9 chicane in the middle of the straghts is too tight on the exit, This lso kinda strings them all out a bit which makes slipstreaming a bit more difficult down the next straght.

I'd keep the 11/12/13 chicane as is as I actually think thats a fairly intresting corner & seems to be where much of the overtaking happens at present. Final part the track can't really be changed much as there's not a lot of space there with the Hotel & Marina.

The slow corner/long straght/slow corner theory to aid overtaking does work (As we see at Hockenheim for example), However if the initial slow corner is too tight then it strings them out a bit too much. I think Valencia suffers from a similar problem as turn 10 strings them all out leaving them too far behind one another to really have a go down the straght into the next corner.

I think the sad thing with this track is that things could be done to help make overtaking a bit more possible & there not really major changes which are needed, Just that nobody seems willing to actually do them, There all too busy looking at KERS Ect...

I was very nervous untill a couple of laps from the end. Therefore I rated it an 8. If this wouldn't have been the championship desider, it would have been a 3.

Vettel gets my vote, perfect race. Petrov was great as well, confirmed my decision to support Kubica in stead of Alonso, who showed (again) to be a very bad loser.

So happy Seb won. He deserves this one. But Feel bad for Alonso and Webber who all 3 deserved it, but in the end Seb did what was needed.

What I actually found bizarre was how, I don't know, on the pace the midfield were today. I mean, they all got lapped last week and now this week they all seemed on it, but 30-35 laps in, 25 at racing speed and Vettel just jumped Kobayashi on the same tyres.

I voted Vettel. You can't take anything away from Petrov, who put in a great drive, but Vettel didn't put a foot wrong all race, and with the pressure of being the championship outsider, i think he did fantastically to drive as smoothly and calmly as he did. A worthy champion.

True. At some point around lap 20, Heidfeld was suddenly lapping faster that anyone else. I thought he was in for a points finish.
Until P17 (Kovalainen) everyone was in the same lap as Vettel.

Not that it would matter much, but was Kubica being investigated for his pit exit?

Interesting discussions here...really enjoyed following the discussions on F1 on TBK this year.

I am going to bed now...and when I wake up in the morning all my attention shifts to the 2011 season.
