I think this race showed just what a good combo DC and Brundle has already become. Normally a good commentating team is one which is inoffensive, which nobody has anything to complain about. DC and Brundle achieved that in race 1, and now we're already at the stage where we're thinking of them as brilliant.

As Brundle said, there will never been another Murray Walker, so we should stop looking for one. I think we've got the next best thing right now. Brundle as a colour commentator has been excellent, and Coulthard is improving every race.

That might've been MB and DC's best performance as a pair yet. As mentioned, DC is improving a lot with each race. I thought they did a splendid job filling in those two hours.
DC's comment about the red shouldered blackbird had me cracking up!

Anyone else notice when they showed a shot of the Red Bull pit wall there was a stream playing that had the World Feed on with the IP clearly visible? Might be worth trying for Valencia as the IP is specially reserved apparently.

Would still have loved to hear Ben Edwards with either Brundle or Coulthard - guess it'll never happen now...

Quote:
MORE than 700 furious Antiques Roadshow fans have complained to BBC1 after bosses dropped Sunday's show for F1 motor racing.

The heirlooms fave, which has seven million viewers, was squeezed out by the rain-hit Canadian Grand Prix.

And the race was later switched to BBC2, where nature series Coast was also ditched to make way for it.

One viewer said: "I'm disgusted family shows should be treated with such disregard.

"Instead of Roadshow we were left staring at pundits standing in the rain for hours on end."

The BBC said: "It was not possible to predict exactly when the race would resume."

Jayski doesn't have the Pocono ratings on his chart, and I have no idea where to find the ratings for F1 on Fox...

Jake says that the coverage peaked at 5m yesterday on BBC1. Highest viewing figures on BBC1 yesterday.

Due to the - well let's say - uneventful race in Valencia I decided to have a closer look at the FOM leaderboard (I never really used it before):

Image

I'm not a fan of it. In fact, it felt more like an information overflow. Don't get me wrong: I love the technical aspect behind it as getting the gaps or position change live without waiting for the sector to refresh it is something quite remarkable. But the live timing does the job better and more "calm". I also believe the casual viewer does not have any interest in extensive stats like this at all.
I think this leaderboard thing is a bit chaotic. I actually prefer the old common classification after each lap.
Sometimes less is more...

I think the scroller they used in 2009 was better. It took up less space & didn't do the flashing that the current one does when it changes to the next 8 positions.

Was nice to see FOM add the Rev-Counter graphic to the OnBoard channel, Was a bit larger than the one off the world-feed but looked & worked exactly the same:

Would be nice if they could also add Team Radio to the OnBoard channel as well.

Yeaa they kept saying that. Wasn't in the last five laps though, he may have done that after he was dead last.

Is he over here?

Could be a good idea to reconvene over here though, away from all the nonsense that goes on over on that forum.

Ya, I rarely post on that forum because you cannot reason with a lot of those people.

Rumour is spreading that Channel 4 is a contender for the F1 rights.
