It's the same team that lodges two protests in a row that sends a higly butthurt press anonouncement when their main driver leaves the team. You can see the bitterness all over the place.

Perhaps we've moved on far enough for teams to have forgotten what happened the year after the Lotus 78, or the Williams-a-likes in 1993/1994.

I had read that part of the 'evidence' fingered for Racing Point was the precise design of the brake ducts. The argument is that they could easily copy the outside, but if the interior is the same then it's clear they did more than look and draw.

But where any of those copies ever successful? I don’t think so. Nd those cars where a lot less complex than today’s cars.

I have been a long time advocate of customer teams BUT it is not allowed under the current rules so if tracing point did use designs from Mercedes all those involved should be punished accordingly

they are last years brake ducts which were legal to purchase from another team last year. its only this year that the rule changed, so it's possible they acquired last years brakes legally and then copied them.

haas were under similar criticisms when they entered the sport for buying as many ferrari parts as was legal

RP uses the Merc wind tunnel don't they?? How awfully convenient if they do. I'm absolutely sure they have the paper trail to "prove" that they designed the car, but in this case when you put two and two together it equals three.

I'd be interested if there are records of who is present at all times in the design of the car. It is one thing to prove that you designed the car, but another thing if you have the designers from the other team leaning over your shoulder telling you what they designed and how to design it and then you make said designs and say "see, proof we designed it".

I would say that this was absolutely fanciful and no team would be dumb enough to do that.........then I remember McLaren of 2007 basically using the fucking design manual of Ferrari. So yeah, its possible.

At least Ferrari are being realistic.

perhaps Ferrari need Montezemolo back

plus FIA is in high trouble regarding RP, as the budget cap disallow them to build a car from scratch (at least a competitive one) and they cannot disqualify as the grid will be with 18 cars

I dunno why don't the main teams (Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes) use their second teams to get the mileage during the races as testing is banned. Making they use all the sessions as data gathering for Alfa/AT/RP

They could always run their 2019 car.

Its a massive clusterfuck. If they allow Tracing point to keep using the car they will do it again in the future and potentially opens the door for them to use a watered down version of the same-season car. RBR will do the exact same with AT. Ferrari might do it with Alfa and Haas. Leaving McLaren, Renault and Williams FUBAR.

Random thought of the day:

All teams should just run the Williams chassis with Ferrari engines. :flag:

I believe that FIA strangled so much designers creativity that eventually there'll be only one common design after all and only engines will be different

which I find it good anyway, better than see those cars who cannot stick close and need tire decay/DRS to do it

At the very least it would be cost-effective.

16. Phillip Island

12. Enna-Pergusa
11. Potrero de los Funes
10. Goodwood

Wasn't Autopolis going to but then TI Aida replaced it? My memory is fuzzy on that one.

you can say the racing there is boring, the track is tight but few tracks in the world have the quirky personality of Enna Pergusa, although F1 have nothing to do with it

It was replaced by Donington in 1993 and then Aida came in the following year to take what would've been Autopolis' spot. Both were similar concepts as racing resorts. Autopolis is a much better circuit, though

I guess you have to fill out some forms to renew it, or actually have to keep up with the increase in standards, idunno

What's raced there since F1 left?

Which reminds me, saw some racing at the old Korean GP track recently and they've really let that place go.
