I'm fine if they come back with those tires and Mercedes suddenly started to have punctures mid race

Well that's not dependent on the tyres, rather it's dependent on the teams putting the tyres on the right way... :whistling:

I'd be fine with more random punctures, for some reason I fine the slow-mo replays of punctures like Lewis in Silverstone 13 or Vettel in Malaysia and Austria really cool to watch

Since these days a puncture doesn't seem to come with a huge spin and crash, they can be enjoyed relatively guilt free too.

I was thinking exactly that.... it's not easy to find a pay driver who is eligible for F1 thesedays too

Chances are that Perez loses his seat while trying to save the team at first hand.

Dont know with Williams but this looks real bad for them losing Stroll & Martini.

Stroll probably bought the team without a deal in place so they wont be getting money from the FIA so Williams will get a few extra bucks

Regarding the tyres:

Soft: lasts max 25-30% race distance
Medium: lasts 50-60% race distance
Hard: lasts full race distance.

Drivers may chose which tyres they want to use in the race.

For qualifying each driver can use one set of Supersupersupersupersofsts which last only 2 laps. It is up to the driver when to use it. Top teams would only like to use it in the final stages of qualifying, but the middle teams might want to use it in Q2, so decision making for the top teams then.

You know what would be a plot twist? Williams and Perez both out of F1. Williams for trying to get Force India go down in hope for price money and counting on Stroll's money and Perez as a Bad Luck Brian, scoring good points, bringing sponsor money, trying to save the team. Oh the irony.

Obviously I don't want to see that happen, but it's silly season so what the heck. It's more plausible than Kimi Räikkönen going to anywhere else than Ferrari or retirement.

Kind of get the feeling that Williams Engineering will survive, but not the race team. I also feel that this might have been foreseen.

I haven't poured over their financials, but are their non F1 divisions profitable? If so, then I can see that the shareholders won't want them to continue plowing money into the F1 team with no real return on investment, taking money away from the other areas of the business.

Williams Advanced Engineering does turn a small profit.

The majority shareholder is still Sir Frank. Assuming that all of it passes to Claire when he dies, I can't see any other shareholder forcing the team shut.

Williams' situation is much better than it seems. The Stroll money was front-loaded; a majority was sent in the year before Stroll started in F1 and in his first year of F1. If he or his father want him to start at FIF1 from Spa, they will have to pay even more in termination fees (this cost PDVSA $30 million when Maldonado went to Lotus). They have recently sold a fair chunk of land around the factory to housing developers. And they will also get their share of FIF1's FOM money that the new entry will not be allowed to claim.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Cool, thanks for the info.

But one major thing. That isn't sustainable. Sooner or later the team will have to survive on actually being profitable and competitive. How long can they continue like they are? Ditto McLaren.

Such a shame that two of F1's powerhouses are languishing down the back for extended periods.

Surely they've both been in F1 long enough for that historical team payment Ferrari gets. McLaren especially.

doesn't Williams also receive a historic team bonus? They're like 40 years already and won a load of constructors championship. Could be a good argument when they sell the team someday

but for now I guess Mercedes will turn them into a satellite team

iirc there are 2 historic payments. 1 for Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and iirc Renault and another special historic payment for Ferrari.

Red Bull also is getting some extra benefits.

today I also saw F1 lost revenue and the teams get 23m less to divide.

Jennie Gow claims that she asked Claire Williams in Hungary about the future of the team "if" they lose Stroll money. Apparently they have a plan and are not worried.

doesnt have to mean much. If she said she was worried it would surely trigger Stroll to look beyond Williams if he wasnt already.
