I asked about that Sauber-Mercedes rumor, last weekend in a live Q&A from Motorsport.com.

Jonathan Noble gently answered "Dismissed as complete nonsense".

Quite surprised about Tsunoda. He didn't impress me at all.

Yeah a bit surprising. He's been underwhelming this year. But they put so much hype onto him that I guess they don't want to give up on him after just 1 year and must see a lot of potential in him, meh.

He's just keeping the seat warm next year for Liam Lawson, who surely is a shoe in for a drive in 2023

RB program sack drivers for fun, I'd expect if he hasn't picked up by mid next season, he'll get hot swapped.

Yup, that sounds about right. My guess is that if he continues to underperform next year, Helmut won't hesitate at all to get Vips or Lawson in mid-season.

Means we should enjoy Herta in IndyCar in 2022 as he'll go backmarking in F1 afterwards.

We'll never get full 26-car-grid if they just keep buying pre-existing teams. What if a couple of teams withdraw (Mercedes, Haas and Alpine) and F1 is suddenly stuck with 14 cars? At least with 26 cars they have some buffer. The $200m entry fee is the stupidest thing F1 has ever done.

That would be wild. Zach Veach has one conversation with his pastor and it eventually leads to Michael Andretti buying an F1 team.

As far as Liberty is concerned, a full grid is 20 cars.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Nobody is going to like what I'm saying here, but here goes: if you want a lively, competitive, fully-furnished field, you need customer chassis. Everything in the motorsports world nowadays (WEC, Indycar) points to it.

The cars already look alike generally. Either we want to keep masturbating over that little barely apparent bit of carbon that some nerd has slapped under the floor of this or that team... or we can orgasm over a larger and closer field.

Or allow both options, and make it multi-class with little performance gap, just like Le Mans with Hypercars and LMP2s this year. It's not going to be much different from now anyways, with the second-class teams all being lapped in a 90mins race.

I don't see it happening anytime soon. And not only because of the hefty entry fee. Zandvoort pitlane for example barely fitted the 10 teams last weekend. They had to angle the pit markers a bit and still, there was staff protecting their equipment when a car pitted in the neighbouring box. These cars need to stop being limos first, sadly.

Great news. Just saw a post of Albon himself on Instagram about it. He thanks Horner and Marko for helping him to make it happen. Not sure what it means, but it hints they released him from the contract with Red Bull.

Also, I have just seen this video from The Race about the last seats available, and they touch the point of Mercedes drivers at Alfa. Apparently, Binotto has already spoken he thinks it's not the job of an engine supplier to interfere with who will drive for the team. I guess this dismiss all the rumors of Sauber aka Alfa moving to Mercedes engines anytime soon.

Meh. Willing to give him another season to see what he can do since leaving the cursed 2nd Red Bull, but I've never looked at his performances and thought he was good enough to be in F1.

Damn, all these announcement lined up in one go, what WILL we needlessly speculate on now?

I guess it's time to start thinking who will replace Hamilton when he retires :whistling:

My vote is on Norris to continue the British Superteam

that makes me wonder if Mercedes is already more british than McLaren, considering that Woking is operating a branch in America either

There's a new global F1 Fan Survey. I think the questions are essentially the same as previously, apart from the Sprint race questions. I strongly disagreed on them, though I expect them to ignore the results (or not publish them at all).

I recommend to use fake email address, because there's no option to reject spam mail.

I doubt they'll be honest on the results. I slammed the sprintraces as well.

Seeing some rumours on twitter Zhou's sponsors are pushing hard to get that Alfa Romeo #2 seat.

Glad to see F1 pairing with Nielsen on this survey. I can't take this feeling they'll show a cherry-picked result that will validate all the measures they have been taking recently, but it seems a pretty solid job indeed.
