I've seen pictures of the place of the crash. He WASN'T skiing outside the course but in a place wich links two different courses.
It is absolutely unbelievable for me to see that such a dangerous place was not protected with nets or signals of any kind.
Anyway my prayers goes for him and his family. Forza Schumi!

I'm sorry coland but that is a lot of rubbish.

I've been skiing a few times in the 3 Vallees, staying in and spending a lot of times on slopes in Meribel. Off-piste and areas that connect / separate slopes are very well indicated. And besides, for any skier seasoned or not it is fairly obvious what is on-piste versus off-piste.

One update from F1 Technical, at least until tomorrow afternoon.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I agree. Everytime someone is injured while skiing, the talk about safety nets and signals begins. Mostly the serious accidents does happen off-piste and there's a reason why people go there...to seek thrills.

This is an unfortunately too common skiing accident. The other type was what happened to the prince of Netherlands, when he was buried by avalanche. He might have survived had he used a 500-1000$ worth avalanche backpack.

I hope Schumacher's injuries are 100% recoverable and that there would be good news about his condition soon.

What i've understood from German TV and CNN is that there is a small off-piste section which connects two trails. That segment is used quite often and generally seemed safe if you don't go too quick. Not saying that he did go too fast but something did go wrong there.

Yep, it's still critical.

Remember this only happened 48 hours ago, so there's still a long way to go.

The effects of the bruising/lesions to the brain may not be known for weeks :( This will be a slow process. No news might be good news at this point. Hopefully only steady improvements from here on, fingers crossed.

Maybe I just haven't looked in depth at previous driver head injuries but I'm starting to think that this is amongst the most serious I can remember, closer to Da Matta's than Massa's

In terms of non-driver sportsmen I can only think of James Cracknell (whom got posted about by phil earlier). It's rather insane that he managed to recover so well.
